I saw a cockroach

For first time in my life at the place where I live now near the sink. Actually I see such animal for second time here, but first time I wasn't sure it's really a cockroach, because it is not the black type, but it's little different type - a brown one. First time when I saw it I killed it with one of my sandals. It was again near to the sink. Since then I am trying to deal with everything in the kitchen as soon as possible, not leaving food here and there and so on, cleaning the space around the sink as soon as possible after use. Now I am thinking that if we had a fridge it wouldn't be like that. We are leaving this way nearly since one year, so it is kind of logical. I strongly hope the reason I see it for second time is because the cockroach entered our front door for our flat. When we enter the apartment, first thing is our opened kitchen near the corridor so I wonder if it just crossed the door and came in. Being raised in a house, we never had such things there. We better buy some spray or something to deal with this animals, before they capture us.

You know I have never encountered a cockroach. I am plauged with spiders though! I have read that cockroaches would even survive a nuclear war or rats, I can not remember right now

I have seen cockroaches in old buildings. Actually the building where we live now is old, but we have never seen cockroaches in the kitchen, even not using fridge at all. I felt the food is safe the way I was staying it during the night, as example. This cockroaches are a terrible thing, they have lived millions of years. And as I read just now, there is no specific preparation killing this kind, because they somehow survive, treated with different preparations

Don't know about the rats but MythBusters did a show on it. Roaches can withstand more radiation than other living things because they have fewer genes. Something like that. Yech!

I think you might need a pro exterminator in and call the owner of the building.

If the roaches are coming from another apartment they will be very difficult to get rid of. My only experience with them was when I was a teenager babysitting in the house next door. It was late at night and I was watching tv in the living room. I went into the kitchen, turned on the light and found, to my horror, that I was surrounded by cockroaches. They were everywhere. The counter, floor, the table. It was horrible. I think they come out in the dark and when it's quiet.

One of my ex boyfriends was living in such very old building, managed by the local government in their city. They were paying very small rent to the government, who owned this flat and the flat was not that good. So I saw a lot of these black bugs all over their kitchen. It was a terrible thing, true horror as you called it. It was my first meeting with the cockroaches and I was afraid to go in the kitchen and wash even a glass, because of them. They were everywhere and doesn't matter what preparations the family was using, it looked like the cockroaches just enjoyed eating the preparation and always survived.

We normally have cockroach here specially when the house is old or the building. But I do get rid of them and never see them inside my house. I have a some kind of Baygon chalk that I draw anywhere specially their point of entry, the cabinets, windows etc. And I never leave any food at night specially on the sink.

We are without fridge, that's why we leave food in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing, I will look for some preparation, so far I saw only 1 last night.

Hi, I am terrified of cockroaches. This fear is there since my childhood. My mother can catch a cockroach and throw it away out of the window as she has been a science student and has done dissections. When I see a cockroach I literally run from that place and do not return till someone has got rid of it. My house is kept clean and we get a lot of the sun as we live on the top floor and our rooms actually open up to the terrace, so we rarely see a cockroach but occasionally one or two get in somehow and give me a tough time. There are the flying ones too that fly all around the room till one can get it down with some spray. I really hope you can get rid of these insects and that they do not show up any longer.

We live on the last floor of a building too, last floor for our side of the building. Our kitchen is near the corridor, so there are small windows to the corridor, always closed. This part of the floor where our kitchen is, there is no air condition. Our balcony is always opened, even during the winter sometimes, but just the air moves here, where we have a fan, but at the side with the kitchen it doesn't. Thank you for sharing, I already cleaned everything in the kitchen, this early morning before I go to bed I throw out every kind of food, before I go to sleep. I hope I will not see any of them anymore.

Oh, no, no, I am sure it is a cockroach. I checked last night in the net and it is brown, called German cockroach in one informative website. I know about the flying bugs which smell very bad after killing, here we have them, but they are green. And make a very annoying sound when they fly. The cockroach I saw last night was brown. So far I haven't seen another one, since last night. I hope it was just an accident to see it here. Now when I go in the kitchen I imagine how I see cockroaches showering in the sink Because I read in the article that such cockroaches are very often met around sink, water source and so on.

In india cockroach is very common. We can see in all homes if there is hole with full dark place there you can see it. Make your home always clean and allow sun light to enter every part of your home by opening all the doors. This will avoid any instinct approaching your home.

Thanks for giving me this idea Idea24share, the doors to our balcony are always opened, specially now in the summer, since it is so hot. I read that this type is very often around the sink, because they love to be somewhere where it's wet. I can't leave all of our lamps turned on all of the time, having in mind that the apartment is big and we have a lot of lamps. I think it's time for us to make our fridge working.

Don't leave them capture your home, if you see any They are just like ... mmm ... I can't find another bug to compare them, but something you hardly can rid off if they find a home in your own home.
