Me and my husband recently fell on hard times we had to go stay at a motel because of family issues they gave us a roll of toilet paper a day and it had paper around it I used to use it to drain the grease off of things and it worked we did not have the money for papertowels also we used the toilet paper to wipe out things with I know that it sounds bad but as my husband would say sometimes you have to use things even though you don't want to.

Funny that we just went over this kind of things with our children this evening. I bought a package of plastic bowls last week and they were complaining that we would not have enough bowls for them to use with their lunch tomorrow. I told them that they could simply take their bowls and rinse them out after they got done with dinner and then they could use the same bowls tomorrow. Another thing that we reuse all the time is plastic utensils.

I am sorry that you and your husband have fallen on bad times. I know what you are going through because Randy and I are going through the same thing. Last year we ended up living with my parents and things were terrible. My mother kept on asking us for money that we did not have and it resulted us in arguing with my parents. I did not mind helping out with the food and cooking, however in addition to buying food and cooking I had to pay their heat bills and half of the power bill. I felt this was unfair because my sister and brother were never asked to pay for anything and my sister worked and has four kids whom my mother was babysat after she got off of work. I reuse plastic cups, plastic bowls and plastic utensils. I also use butter containers and sour cream containers to put grease in.

I have reused paper plates; specially, when making sandwiches. We take out a glass and use it all day to drink water, which means less running the dishwasher now. Spice jars are washed and used again. We grow plants to help stretch the food budget, as the prices in the store keep going up.
Hope things get better for you fast.

The list gets bigger and bigger every year. Freezer bags that didnt have meat in them. Jars of all kinds. Garbage bags, plastic silverware. I try to find a use for most everything. Not only will it keep me out of the stores but it will also keep things out of my trash can.
