Holiday effect

In our country, we are expecting 2-3 holidays this month. I was amused with the changing effect of Holiday to me...
When I was still studying, Holiday is bad news to me. No school means no allowance and I would rather choose to sit and stare at my teachers/professors all day with allowance than to sit and stare with my siblings without extra money.
When I started working, Holiday becomes my best friend. Pay even without work, more time with my self, my family, my sweetheart and to attend other important things. Better yet, there were times when I am being required to have my duty during holidays and that means bigger pay for me.
But things changed as I got involved with our company management. I saw the effect of Holiday in terms of operations and salary expenses. Less output for the offices who are in Holiday off, higher salary expenses for the employees who are required to render their duty. And having a company who are battling to survive with the competition and economy, having plenty of Holiday already become a disadvantage.
What can you say about this? :)

and you are greatly blessed to be able to work to such kind of company!
Well im really not familiar with your companies policies regarding holidays, but all i know is when you work during holidays, its double pay.
But if i'll be able to work in a company like yours, if i work during holiday and its double pay i'll grab it, depending on the situation.
But if my family sets a very important gathering during holidays, then i'll choose to spend it with them...

yes initially holidays meant staying at home so we were missing our friends. but with the work pressure at the office, holidays are the most sought after thing.
