Okay I am appalled by the negative comments about gabby's hair!! As a Black woman, even more disturbed that it is mostly my own ethic group who's so negative. We(as a people) have such a crab in the barrel mentality). This young lady is making history and we're focusing on her hair(smh). Believe me I love getting my hair done, wigs, and weaves alike, but OUR people should know that DURING the Olympics(highly competitive, strong workouts, countless practices) if she had been getting her hair done she wouldn't have a GOLD medal) and her hair would just get messed up anyway. We should all be celebrating her for bring AMERICA a gold medal!! But I digress because I have a feeling her hair will be on point now that's she's got her Gold medal!!!

I have to admit I was stunned by the backlash of her hair. And that it was from African-Americans was the real stunner. On Twitter people were tweeting like crazy to celebs such as Sherri Shepherd. I have no idea what the problem is. I'm white, but I'm looking at her, staring at her, and I see nothing wrong. I just don't get it. Would I get it if I were black?

@ Ambie and that's another thing other ethnic groups would have no idea if black people didn't bring it up anyway...IMO other races have no clue if we've just come from the beauty shop or not so in a word, would you get it if you were black, the answer is YES. And I'm looking at her too and I also see nothing wrong...Thanx for the feedback!

Hatred for ourselves as a people is tragic! I'm disappointed that a discussion of this type had to even be started!

What the...? I'm Hungarian, and I was watching her on the Olympics, and I thought she looked amazing, and I was stunned by her grace and elegance, especially on the balance beam... I didn't see anything wrong with her hair... and seriously, if you have a gold medal winning olympian, you should be proud of her, not bash her... don't get me wrong, and I do not overgeneralise, but some Americans take their athletes bring home medals as granted, and not something to admire... I mean, our country has won 4 golds so far, and we raise ALL those people on piedestals and we don't see public backlash about any aspect of these athletes...
