Are diet sodas really bad for you?

If you have ever watched Supersize vs Superskinny, you will see that many diet soda drinkers are quite thin. That being said, many dietitians state diet soda causes obesity. If you are using diet soda as a meal replacement and not really caring about your health, will diet soda make you fat?

I think they are the same as regular soda

I rarely drink soda that are not diet ones. The non-diet ones that contain high fructose corn syrup just don't taste that good--they taste rather flat and leave a bad taste in your mouth.I remember when HFCS wasn't commonly in regular soda, and they used to taste better.I used to like orange soda a lot when I was a kid.If I do consume regular soda,it would normally be the kind that have cane sugar, like Hansen's.There is just no point in drinking most regular sodas if they don't taste good.Drinks with sugar don't quench your thirst and just make you thirstier.I doubt diet soda will make you fat.

Some say drinking too much diet soda with aspertan will make you crazy, give you cancer etc, but I've got no idea whether it is proven or not. But if you drink diet soda your body thinks you drink something sweet, but as there is no sugar in it you'll still want more sweet stuff. So you might ending up drinking a lot of diet soda. No calories, so it should make you fat, but maybe not healthy.

Drinking a lot of soda bloats you up. I knew someone that would drink about 2 litres of coke a day and he wwas quite round. When he quit drinking it though he lost some weight. Drinking sodas all the time isn't good for our teeth or our body but you can enjoy some in moderation

I drink Diet Pepsi just about exclusively. I have put on probably 8 lbs since drinking, but, if I quit drinking diet soda I drink sweet tea and put on even more weight. If I could drink water (and I can't because it gives me a headache) I would probably loose the eight pounds and not gain because of the sweet tea, but I'll take the 8 lbs and just try harder to lose those extra inches it brings.
