Cooked all of our dishes for today...

Usually I only cook two dishes everyday for our breakfast and lunch but since its raining and i am worried to experience power outrage I decided to cook all the three viands for this day and made sure to cook it very well . Also I put some vinegar for dinner dish to avoid the food to get spoil and wasted. I am just going to reheat the food later before eating and enjoy it with my husband. How about you my fellow friends? Do you cook all you viand/dishes during raining season and reheat it later before eating? Thank you for sharing.

I make soups when the weather is rainy and freeze what we don't eat to serve several days later. My husband won't eat the same dish 2 nights in a row. He likes a variety, but it can be a different variety of soup like potato one night and a vegetable soup the next night.

Well, I started doing this years ago when my kids were little cause back then we didn't have microwaves and frozen food meals...I'd cook all weekened and make things that can be forzen..chili, enchilladas, chicken pot pies, burittos, etc. Then I cook/bake double batches and have for hte weekend, and then freeze for the next week or so, then I'd only have to thaw and cook and would have more time for my kids as I was a full time working mother of two! But I hadn't thought about what you say..to have something in power outages. Granted, no power no oven or microwave but seems ther should be somethingt I can do to just thaw and eat. We had an outage few years back and it was out for 4 days. We had a portable generator for some lights and the fridge, but still..it would have been nice to have warm food! What do you cook/bake to have for times like this? Do you do it just as the power outage exists or freeze and when the outage hits, take out of the freezer/fridge?

My problem about power outages because I am using electric stove , oven and microwave and its very impossibe to go out because of the flood and bad weather. We have generator in our bulding but only light and electric fan can we used. Most of the time during bad weather I cook fried fish, pork in sour soup and chicken stew which dont require to put in fridge and not easy to spoiled. Thanks you for sharing.

We don't have a rainy season here; we have four distinct seasons. I do try to have some stuff on hand that doesn't require cooking when it looks like a bad storm might take out the power.

Here for the convenience, we prepare food in the morning and evening. As many are working people this the habit and on holidays kitchen may be always a busy place for trials. Any way, as long as you are considered certain precautions, it is better to warm the food before eating, especially as it is raining. Also, plese not that the dirinking water also to be boild and use. There are a lot of water related desease are happenig around.

We are doing that also during rainy season. It is wise to think that way especially that money is hard to earn nowadays. At least, we don't have any problem preparing when there is no electric power. Thanks

I agree. Better to prepare and cook food in advance to save money and time at the same time lots of time to relax during rainy season.

I usually cook one meal once. Is it good to cook so much and then heat it to eat? I don't know. But I do make some steamed buns once, then I put them into fridge. And I heat it before we eat.

I think i would do that too at times such as that. As long as it wont get spoiled then that is ok.

We have refrigerator with freezer too but I am afraid that power might turn off due to bad weather that's why I cook all of it. Thanks

I usually don't have the habit to keep ingredients at home, because we don't have a fridge. I always cook in the late afternoon for diner only and I am glad I don't have to prepare different meals few times a day. I shop before cooking and I am glad we have a shop in our building, so I can stay dry even going out in rainy days.

Hi, I actually haven't cooked today. My mind was set that I am going to work this morning but due the heavy rain, our work was suspended and so I returned to bed this morning and woke up before noon. We just had coffee and bread. The problem is we have scheduled to go the market this afternoon and we have nothing to cook except for some canned goods. We can't just go down to the market to buy because it is not safe to go down and I think that roads are now flooded so I think that we would just be eating canned goods today and tomorrow. It is good to know that you are taking care of your family and preparing for possible things that may happen due to this kind of weather. Planning and preparation are good especially now that the rain has not stopped.

Hello Paper_Doll, good to know that your office suspended today since its very dangerous to go out due to heavy rains and floods. After cooking all the dishes I return to bed to sleep for few hours since its very cold and I am still sleepy. Good thing I went to market yesterday but if tomorrow's still raining we might eat canned goods and instant noodles too. Thanks

You're just like my mom She would either everything that she planned on in advance or just cook a lot enough for the whole day or two so all we have to do is just to reheat food each time we will eat. The only downside for us kids is, we have to eat the same thing until it's finished. And you know how teens are, they do not eat anything that has been served once.
