I am having sore throat right now and we don't have any medicine at home or even strepsils. I don't now how this happened, it just did, and it is painful.. Anyone have a home made remedy for it? Water is not working.. maybe i have tonsillitis..

You can take a small piece of ginger and keep it on your mouth. You will feel relaxed and slowly become normal and let it be there in your mouth for some more time just like that...

Yes, I have been doing this too if I have sore throat. I think the sharp biting taste of ginger helps to kill the germs that causes sore throat. A small piece left in our mouth like candy for a while will do the trick.

Yes, even you can hold some hot-salt water in the mouth also will help for a relief. However, as long as it got affected, it will come-remain for time-and disappear slowly, whatever we do, as our throat is affected with the bacterias. So, suffer for a day more and keep away from cold food, drinks and similar things. Also, having a hot-water bath also advisable.

The only thing I can really think of is to make some tea with honey in it. And if you happen to go out to a store or something, try to pick up some throat lozenges, they'll help a little with the sore throat. Feel better!

This is what I can also recommend her. Tea with honey is really effective for sore throat. I have tried this before and 'though it took some days for me to completely feel better, I must say that slowly the pain was lessened.

yeah, most of the response here are talking about teas with lemon.. I guess that is very effective. I am drinking hot drinks now though, one is made from calamansi and the other from ginger..

Hi Lady1993, you can try to rinse your mouth with salt water, and drink salt water at regular interval. The salt will kill the bacteria in the throat. As to how soon you will get well, that depends on your immunity, and your sleep habit, and stress level. Do not expect to get well if you lack sleep, and have to work very long hours in the office.

For tonsilitis, taking erythtromycin antibiotic is more recommended than amoxicillin. You may opt to drink hot or warm water. Try to gargle warm water with vinegar can also help in soothing sore throat.

Yeah, i am trying it out now.. and the taste is kind of bad, but many people also say that it is effective, so i'll just bear with it. I'll try gargling too.. maybe it would help.

Hot black tea with honey in it will soothe it, as will ginger tea. If you want to get rid of it, though, gargle with salt water, as hot as you can stand it. Do that about every hour all day long. Most sore throats clear up in about 3 days, so if yours doesn't, you should go to the doctor because it could be serious. The salt water should help it get better within 24 hours, though.

Perhaps you have caught a cold. I will have a sore throat when I caught a cold. Usually I feel better if I take the pills for the cold. Since you don't have medicine, I suggest you drink a lot of water and then have a good rest. This will be best for the sore throat and it will not have any side effects:) I love China

You can try this home remedy. Mix a little salt to a half filled glass of lukewarm water and use it as gargle.Let it stay for a while in your mouth and repeat the procedure after an hour. I think mouth wash will also do the trick.
