My daughter and I used to attend the county fair every year. I think one of my favorite parts of the fair was the food. There was one stall there that served burgers with what they called a relish. This basically consisted of grilled veggies...onions, tomatoes and bell peppers. It was pretty tasty but I think I topped them yesterday.
We decided to make burgers yesterday and I wanted to have some "relish" on mine. I just sauteed up some onions and bell peppers...both green and red peppers to make it pretty.
I added some seasonings to them while they were frying and voila! It tasted even better than the fair's I don't think they seasoned theirs. Of course, I used Johnny's Seasoning Salt on mine. I think it turned out really good.
Have you ever made fair food at home? Other fair food we like to make includes Navajo tacos. I like to use whole wheat flour for my fry bread, though. What kind of fair food do you make?

Oh, yes. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. I fried the veggies in the hamburger grease, too, so they absorbed all those lovely flavors from the meat. It was really good!

I used to go to the Ohio State Fair and a few other little ones in that area and the food couldn't be matched! Now, later in years...I dont' go to the CA state fair or any others as they are just to expensive and so much vendors and none of the "fair" stuff...but I bet the food is still good...and expensive! But I went to a little sandwich shop in Florida about 10 years ago when I visited my brother.. my snobby sister in law said she'd just order for everyone...and said "is chicken okay?" I said yes thinking it was just a regular style chicken sandwich. Turns out is was chicken salad! I hate chicken salad. I don't care much for Mayo. It was in a pita bread pocket and when it was served I thought I'd die. Oh, grosss!! But not wanting to be rude...I took a small bite...then another one and another one and soon the sandwhich was gone! It was really good!! After that, I tried to make it at home and after about 3 attempts...was very secessful at doing that! Now I have chicken salad kind of often...as it is just so good.

LOL...you sound like my daughter. She will turn her nose up at mayonnaise every time, no matter what else is in the dish. And yet, how many times have I gotten her to try a new dish and she finds she likes it...still she won't try it if it has mayo in it. lol...funny the prejudices kids form about food, isn't it?
