I loved the book and when I heard there was actually a movie based on it, I instantly looked for it. The woman playing Annie Wilkes was superb! She really embodied the crazy nurse character and last I heard, she actually won an Oscar award for the role. Talk about amazing!

I loved both the book (read it several times) and the film, Kathy Bates played the crazy nurse Annie real well! Totally deserved the Oscar for the performance.

I forget if I learned about Annie Wilkes' background from the book or the movie, but it's very scary to think of her as some sweet-seeming nurse in another place who people see reading too many romance novels.. then she's nearly caught for her other crimes and retires like a sweet middle aged lady in a nice country house, becoming obsessed like a teenaged girl - because baddies like pop culture, too. Her shifts from a homey lady to a violent psychopath make for a surreal experience!

I saw the move without any expectations. All I knew was there was some crazy woman who would mess up some guy's feet!! That movie held my attention the entire time . . . I could totally feel the nightmare of trying to escape from that obsessed fan. Kathy Bates was awesome (but then again she is awesome in every role she plays - very convincing actress!!).

"Misery" is one of the hardest and darkest books Stephen King has ever written, full of horror and disgust, to be honest. And yes, Kathy Bates performed the role of Annie Wilkes more than perfectly, so she definitely deserved that Oscar award in 1991. Both Kathy Bates and James Caan (as I recall he played the "hostage")were brilliant and the adaptation of the book was great. One of the best Stephen King books ever.

I haven't read or hear about this movie/book named Misery. Misery does have a good ratings in imdb.com, also good user rating.
Misery does ssem to be a movie worth watching, I will try to see the movie first and get hold of a copy of the novel to see whether the book is also worth reading ...

This is already an old movie and yes she did win an Oscar with her portrayal of the "crazy" nurse. It was totally creepy without the need for ghosts and ghouls. I wish there were more great movies like these today - where we don't need CG in order to make the movie surreal.
Have a great MylOt experience ahead!

I haven't actually read this book and I definitely haven't seen the movie. The reason that I haven't read the book is simply because I haven't been able to find a good enough deal on the book. The reason that I said that I definitely haven't seen the movie is because of the fact that I will never watch a movie adaptation of a book until I've actually read the book. This is because I like to be able to visualize the book myself before I see the way that another person has perceived it.

Yeah this was one of the best book to movie adaptations. Followed it perfectly. Kathy Bates was just plain scary crazy

Oh, I read the book and the movie definitely did justice to a Stephen King classic. Kathy Bates played the psycho role to the hilt. She was scary, but not a "horror movie scary" kind of scary. You notice the changes in her subtly. The twitch in her eyes, that secret smirk. Until she goes full blown and bam!!! She was good!!!
