Who Said Cats Were Easy!!!

I didn't go out seeking a pet. I was content, happy and filled with the essence of life. It was a cool night, one of those nights that made your ears tangle with slight numbness and a tasteful breeze that pleased your palate with freshness. It was on a night like that when I met Oinari; a scrawny one pound kitten of shivering fur. He was mewling in the darkness and he found his way to my doorstep. When I opened the door he mewled some more and crawled inside (uninvited). He sniffed around for a moment then took sanctuary inside my entertainment system. That first night after I washed him and cleaned his ears, I learned what it meant to be held capacitive. He would cry and whine until I would allow him to curl up in my lap, on my shoulder, or just close enough so that he was touching me. A couple weeks later I was able to take him to the vet. He got his first shots and some medicine for hookworms, a respiratory infection, and an ear infection. He baby phase ended shortly after that. Once he grew out of the crying phase, he grew into his destructive phase. That's when he runs around (galloping like a horse) fighting zombies and dragons and other creatures of his over active imagination. I bought him toys to give him somewhere to focus his energy but he breaks them or loses them or both. Then (as he developed a taste for destruction) he fines something of mine to attack. Thank goodness he finally stopped chewing my TV wires. When I get phone calls (it doesn't matter if he hears the phone ring or just hears me talking on the phone)he comes and jumps on my lap or chest and proceed to engage the other person on the phone in a conversation that only he can understand. I started letting him outside hoping he would play and just come home to sleep but either he comes back after like 2 minutes; yelping to come inside, or he goes missing for two days and comes back looking like he had just gone to war in the Shara Desert. And let's not talk about how much he eats and poops like some walking tapeworm, or how he always gets those black eyes of fear because every sudden sound freaks him out. I love my kitty. He is more independent than a dog. But damn whoever told me that cats were easy!!!

Thanks! I was inspired after my cat returned home as an unrecognizable mound of filth ;0)

I have always had cats and I will say that they are so easy to get attatched to and so much fun to watch when they are playing.I have 8 cats and yes they cost a lot of money when they have to go for shots, worm treatment as well as flea treatment, our shopping consists of loads of animal food, lol, but well worth the money that we spend out. My husband bought me a fourth Ragdoll last year and she was a mess, she came from a breeder and he said it was more like her rescued her, she cost me over one hundred pounds at the vets in the first 24 hours she was here, as she was like a bag of bones, now she is in full health and you would never notic what she was like when we got her.
