Pray First!

James wrote,"is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray" (5:13). Too often, prayer is not our first response to trouble. We may try to figure out a solution by ourselves using our own skills or financial resources. Or we may turn to our friends. When none of that helps, we finally get around to praying.
Prayer should be our first response--not our last resort.
When you face a problem, where do you turn first?
How has a prayer helped you during difficult times?
How has God answered your prayers?

A very good post,an equally good question. And my reply to it is that I have been programmed by my parents to turn to God in the face of any trouble or problem to bless me with the strength to solve it or live with it.My parents are no more in this world, but their inspirations are still with me.They had told me,'Whenever you find yourself in trouble or face to face with a problem, pray to God,but never ask Him to solve your problem in your behalf.Instead, ask Him to provide with strength sufficient to solve the problem,or,if He wishes,to live with it.Now this has become an integral part of my nature.

Your parents was really the best parents you have. And I'm proud of them for raising you having the fear in God. I really admire you for that. Yeah I absolutely agree that when you face trouble never ask God to solve the problem in our behalf instead ask him to provide us strength to solve the problem.
I am enlighten by that sentence. Thank You
"It is in God's mercy on the man made".

I used to pray earlier, but now, not - but, yes I used to pray, but I don't know how effective it is and it give only some satisfaction and nothing beyond that. Think, you will get the answer for it.

That's really really make me realize i should pray more. in the past, i'm just go to church only when Christmas and Easter. I have my bad bad bad time, i don't know who's my God, I feel alone and i think no one will help me. I feel arrogant and so selfish, i think i can handle everything with my self without praying.
Someday, He gave me a little thing to make me realize, i need Him. i've got sick and my doctor say i should have bed rest for along long time. my family and friends come and praying for me. first i laughed so loud, i think they spent something for nothing, but believe or not, i'm become health just on one night.
now, i feel different. i miss HIM alot, feeling near with HIM every time i'm praying. Prayer with your FAITH, because FAITH give you power. pray without faith is nothing, just word. remember, although you faith just little like a seed, you can handle this world. God always answer us when we ask to HIM. just wait until that come. GOD sometimes not give what we want, but HE IS ALWAYS give what we need.
Praise to the LORD :)

This is so true, we should turn to Prayer First, I am new to Christianity and find that what I have learned all these years, I must unlearn now, so it's like rolling back into infancy and ;earning, The Way. Thanks for the reminder.

I totally agree that people should turn to God first instead of others for help. I've done that many of times and things has always either turned out successful or I have always gotten the answer that I needed. Sometimes God doesn't answer my prayers right away, but I think that is were God test our faith. Or maybe it is just his answer or maybe he has answered and you haven't heard him yet. I think you are right though that people should not use God as a last resort or even when hard times come about, but that they should turn to God during good times as well as hard times.
