Nice, very good, now that makes the 2 of us, seriously I worked only a very short time of my life for a company after graduating from college and I never really liked the idea of having a boss so I run my own business from then on although I worked for my Dad since age 16 and he was my best boss, I learned and got from him the idea that I have to be the boss one day. I know what you mean and how you are feeling right now, congratz!

@ashya_32 & stitchmabob , Actually I worked part time for my dad when I was just 16 years old, in he's shop, even up to the time when I was in college, I always find time to help him and there are times I would do my studies in he's store, "to be the boss" is always what he taught me even if your business is small at least you do not have to work for anybody.
After I graduated, i worked for a short time in some multinational companies, pay was good but what dad taught me always echoed in my mind so I quit working and put up our own company where I partnered with my brother, so after both of us got married, we split up our small company so now I have my own and my brother has he's own. My father has long passed away but I still remember his words, so that is also what I teach my children " strive to be the boss"

Hi Boss,
So, I can call you Boss!
Any way, from my experience, working for and with bosses is a nice chance to learn many things and shape our life in such a way that how we can deal with many people. Though I am not directly working for bosses, I am placed my seat in office for so many high-profiled bosses and partners, COOs, managers etc. for the last 15-17 years and got a better understanding about them.
So, now you can be in different shapes like boss, manager, owners and all in one. Hope you must be enjoying the life and it is a true plus point that you cannot fail anywhere, as you got such a golden polished experience with so many bosses, that even a single boss cannot have such a quality! Keep it up and all the best in your present en-devours.

The best part I like about our bosses is that they all are so friendly and they prefer to call all of them by their name. There is no 'sir' in our office whoever it may be.
Again, non of the bosses would close their glass dors and we, who sitting outside can listen to their discussions, talks, tele-conversations, and many more. Which indirectly given a lot of knowledge, behavour, and really enriched the culture and life style also.
So, I think you are a luck person to get everythig migrated to you and it is really an asset in your current areas of working.
Regards

I am self employed at the moment as well, and I have to admit that I am enjoying it more than anything that I have ever done before. One of the things that I am finding hard though is the fact that the only person I see every day is myself because I don't work in an office with other people, so I am not sure how long I am going to be able to work from home for before I drive myself mad and find myself looking for another job. I am enjoying it at the moment though, so I will just have to see how things going and if it is too hard then I might change my mind about what I'm doing.

I have to agree totally with you. I have been self-employed for over 2 years now. I have done garments business, consulting job and freelance work for last year at the same time. However, most recently I decided to devote all my time to freelance work online. I enjoy the fact that I can do something using my skills and experience that I have gained over the years and earn some money working online.

Oh my god, I met different kinds of people. I was in insurance sale and there are so many insurance companies too. It was hard to make agents under me. Even our company came up with I MLM type scheme for the agents but then they are saying that the company must be fraud to offer that much to agents..lol even given so opportunities, people end up yo such conclusions. It was hectic. Thank god I left it. good day to you.

Good for you! You're living the dream of half of the working force: be their own boss. I'm sure that given your years of experience, and possibly a well-built clientele or even business contacts, you are well set to man a business of your own. It used to be my dream as well, but now that I have a different project, I have to re-adjust my plans into something better. I admit, I would love to experience how it is, working by and for yourself. But I know it have its moments, too.
Good luck in your business!

I'm glad that that is working well for you.
I am an educator, and I love pedagogy. Right now, I am teaching TESL at Cal Poly Pomona for the China Summer Camp. I am teaching Chinese students how to speak English. I love teaching. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I think if one learns to live in the discipline in within the rules then everyone is their own boss.
In any organisation there are certain rules and they are sufficient to make you independent and live a strong life.
having your own business is one of the ways to make money, if you like it. One must love his/her job and that is all we need to be happy.

Working under other people is not a good thing. You do most of the job yet you get payed small. The worst is that you have report to and be ordered around by someone who thinks they are so great and almighty. They treat you like dogs just because they are the boss. Now that you become the boss, I hope that you would treat you employee well, respect them as human being and work together for a friendly and warm working environment.

Well, there are always cons to both sides of a situation. Personally, I like those nice bosses who instruct you on what to do and understand your side to situations.

You have made a great career move I must tell you. The advantage to be your own boss is countless. Most importantly, you are not in the rush of doing anything that you used to lest you would be late in your office or miss your train or bus. Now you can sit in the comfort of your own house and do whatever you like to. You do not have to do the boring 9 hours duty 5 days a week.
