" Against G-d's will"? Confused again.

I need you help again! A Christian I was talking to said people are acting against G-d's will. I thought how could a mere mortal do Anything against G-d's will. He is Far bigger than we. If He Really wants to stop us , He can And does. About to meet the wrong person, you don;t meet. About to have an accident that will kill you prematurely? You for some reason , you veer off course. I guess this statement confuses me. Any help will be appreciated. ps. I am told I am too stupid because I can't read passages from the Bible so just explain your point of view in your own words. Thanks.

On a previous discussion, didn't you tell someone that you're a Jew? As a Jew, I'm sure you're aware of the Ten Commandments. Those Ten Commandments and the various laws recorded in the book of Leviticus are what God gave to the children of Israel so they would know His will. Have you ever broken any of the laws from the Ten Commandments? If you have you have gone against the will of God. Could God have stopped you from breaking His commandments? Of course, but He has given us free will so we get to choose whether or not we'll be obedient to His will. God didn't create a bunch of puppets who have no mind of their own, but are at the whim of the puppeteer. God won't stop us from disobeying Him; but like any good Father, He will punish His children for their disobedience.

But like any good father , He will Stop you from Truly hurting yourself. If not , He isn't a father. I see Him as a teenage scientist/artist. We all are His spring project. The Free will thing Was a mistake but He is letting it go. In fact I see putting humans who are not Of the eartnas a Huge Mistake! The Ten is down to about three! You shouldn't kill, steal, lie in court! I can't keep my sabbath holy , I work. Adultry is what the married couple says it is. So if you are neighbors and swingers ? You Are doing more than coveting His wife.. if your mother and father Honor you, you Should return it. But these days with too mant parents not , I do not blame them for not doing that. Having No other G-d but me. This one always made me think , There are more of You? It sounds like insecure little kid wrote this. G-d comes in many forms and answers to many names but it is the Same Being!Name in vain thing is just good manners bu I must confess I do say Jesus Christ. But He isn't my G-d. G-d is and that is why I spell it this way.I like saying Jesus , Mary, and Joesph! It's fun!I think I got them all.If not Please tell me which one I missed. You know I'm too stupid to read the passages.

So we are free to do whatever? And we don't get any help from G-d? We are All on our own? What happens is All on us. You don't believe in luck? Or miracles. I do! with me it is the little things like I Don't trip. I say thanks. What I was planning works out . I say thanks. If the Giants win by one point , That is a miracle!

In the beginning, God made man and woman. He gave them free will to obey or to disobey. In the garden of Eden, he communicated directly with Adam and Eve, the first man and Woman. Later, God communicated with the leaders such as Noah, Abraham, and Samuel. For these times today, God gave us the bible to show us the principals by which we should live our lives. Every man and woman still has free will to obey or to disobey. Don't let anyone tell you that you are stupid. If you can read, you can read and understand the bible. However, you must be careful to not take a particular verse out of context. You need to know, not only what was said but to whom it was said. What was said in the previous verses and in the following verses.

Don't get me started with that tree of knowledge! Pure Set up! Most of the time Anyone mentions a passage it is taken out of context.I rather someone just tell me what They understand from the Bible in their own words. Reading and understanding are two different things.

But that's what I want. I rather have 50 people tell me their version of the stories in the Bible and then see what is similar in each story. It is more telling than Just reading or in my case Trying to read it myself!

I agree that reading and u understanding are not the same thing. Be careful about asking someone to tell you, in their own words, what the bible says. Each person is likely to put their own slant on what is written therein.

Oh dear... No one can go against God's will... There's only one God... It is the humans who have created different names, for their convinience... We've been too selfish at it, I guess.. All of us, if we learned to live together as humans, the world will be a more peaceful place... Every saintly figure from every religion, whom we worship, have said only one thing... There's only one God... :-) Don't mind what an immature guy said to you, Behen... Let it go!

I agree with you Sarah, if it works good for someone, then religions can be acceptable. It'd be good if it really worked, with peace... Does it work though? Some fanatic threw a comment to you, because you're from different religion... Some fanatics cause mass violance throughout the world, because they think their religion's superior. In India, inter-religion marriages mostly end with the lives of the loving couples... And I guess, it is worse in some countries.. Every prophet or saint from all religions taught to respect others religions, right? We have forgotten the lesson they gave. If the religions work for peace and progress, it'd be the best. But does it really happen?

I'm not so sure the Christian saints even Know about the other religions. It seems like they discard them or call them evil and then move on. over here there are many couples who have different religions and they stay together happily. How? They must have talked it all out. I think the couples you are talking about went into the relationship assuming their partner will convert and when they didn't , they killed them. Like everything else you Need to talk it out.

Oh Bhai! it wasn't him this time. It seemed sad to me . I'm just seeing how many different forms G-d takes in all our lives. I agree He is One. It is the people who have made Him into many G-ds . And I say if that path works for them , then it is good. That's what is so great about religion. We all can choose. thanks Bhai for the support.

Some of the Christian god's commands are very straightforward, like "Do not murder". Others are interpreted differently by different people. But either way, there is a document that states what he wants people to do or not do. When someone goes against what is commanded in the Christian bible, they are said to be going against the will of the Christian god. As a previous poster said, it is believed that the Christian god created humans with free will, allowing mankind to choose to act even against his commands. It is believed that judgement will occur not now, but at the end of the material world.

Well for starters, the bible is all about interpretation. And it seems that everyone sees it differently. And also each religious group sees it different as well. I would not be confused, I would be amazed that people actually believe word for word what is written. It blows my mind. There is no solid proof any of that stuff happened. Here is an example for you. Go back in time when L.Ron Hubbard wrote the book Dianetics. It became what we now know as Scientology. A new religion. Now go forward thousands of years, can anyone then prove that that really happened? No, Was the book actually written to become a religion? No. We know that now, but will they in the future. Thats my point. Yes L.Ron Hubbard existed, so did christ. But was it the way it was written in the book. My answer is no. And we still don't know if the bible is a story book or actual fact. I have read many books in my life, some true stories and mostly fiction. And the fiction is more entertaining and engrossing to me. Thats like me taking a Stephen King book a start preaching the word. I would be put away for a long time. So I see these religious people as crazy people. People that need to be locked up. And, religion is the main cause for most of the wars we have had throughout time.

I just think that people take religion way too far. And I also feel that thats where these wackos are born from. Instead of focusing all their energy into these friggin' religions, they should be concentrating on their personal lives. I am glad I am not religious. Nice!!! Hey Now!!!

Passages in the bible are really mysteries and it varies from person to person. Most of the Christians I met interprets the bible VERY LITERALLY and if they found someone opposing to what they interpreted in the bible, they would IMMEDIATELY conclude that the person is disobeying God's will. Anyhow, doing moral things would be one of your best criterion in addressing the things you are confused with. As for those people who literally understand the bible, just leave them alone and ignore them for entertaining them would just lead to misunderstanding for we have different beliefs and preference.

That, and you're misunderstanding 'the Will of God.' 'The Will of God' is like 'this bachelor's will to get married'; it'll happen 'if an acceptable girl asks him,' but the asking part will only be in his will 'when it happens.' (i.e. he doesn't want to FORCE the girl to ask him; he may 'want to make her ask,' but that wouldn't be the kind of love he wants.) The kind of love God wants is 'freely-given love,' not '`coz there's nothin` else to love'-love.

Then why did He say He was a Jealous G-d?If we are all free to love Him then why are there Christians that want to force you to Love Him? And if this is true always why did so many non Christians have to be killed because they didn't believe? I mean if G-d wants us to do what we will naturally do , then why is it always said be a Christian or else?

I believe that it is God's will that we create our own destiny with whatever guidance God may give us. If we were meant to be stopped or controlled, He'd do it! After Noah and the flood, God made a covenant, Abd as such promised not to control our every movement.

I agree 100% and I thought that is what G-d's promise meant after the flood.

We have free will. Who wants someone to serve them because they have to? God gives us a free will to do what we want. He's not going to make us do anything. He tells us what He wants from us, and it's up to us whether to follow His will or not.

Stupidity tends to be in patches and you can be stupid in some things and clever in others. I don't think being unable to read bible passages is necessarily stupid that can be for all sorts of reasons. However what is really stupid is believing in all this god nonsense. Forget all that rubbish and get on with life doing as much good as you can reasonably do and as little harm as possible and you will be fine

Now if people would say "against my interpretation of God's will" or "against what I believe to be God's will", OK. But maybe God spoke to them directly?

I don't know. It amazes me how different their G-d is to mine. This made No sense to me. I never thought Anything could happen Without G-d's ok. Yes we have fre will but if He Wants us to do A, we are doing A.To her it seemed so different somehow.
