What Am I Doing Wrong?

I only have if I'm lucky 9 posts on my discussions tops right now and started so many. Some people have here 14+ on about the same kinds of topics more or less. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as to not having more people posting, it is discouraging. I might just give this site a rest soon, since no one is interested. What am I doing wrong here? :(

Don't worry too much. I rarely start discussions because I am not so courageous. Some people start discussions all the time about truly frivolous things and they get heaps of responses. Even my friends whom I most always respond to do not answer my discussions. So, I just go about my time here responding to others. I've been here for many years, post decent, well thought out relevant responses yet I am way behind others who started at the same tiome as me. I have no idea why it works out this way. Just keep doing your thing and try not to worry about the numbers. OK??

MsTickle, you do not have to be courageous to start dicussions, but if you never start them myLotters who are good about reciprocating will not have the chance to return the favor when you comment on their discussion.

Hi MsTickle. I noticed that about the frivolous discussions getting heaps of responses sometimes too, like this one, ROFL. Wow I think you have been here for many years having 13487 (as of this time) next to your name. Good going! It takes some effort for me to stay with one site for that long. I won't worry about the numbers, not after all of these reponses now.

I don't think your doing anything wrong and I for one would be sad to see you go. I like you being here with us. I could have sworn you were on my friends list but I just realized your not and I sent you a request. I was wondering why I never saw your discussions and now I figured it out. I am very interested in your discussions, I think they are great!

Your welcome and thank you for accepting my friend request! =) What I do is if something actually happens in my life I write it down if I am not here so I can remember to start a discussion about whatever it is. Lol. Most of what I write is from my own life or from things that have happened here on the news.

Awe, thanks. I guess I'm too addicted to go anyways. I don't always think about the money we make here cause it's not that much. I excepted your friend request, thanks! It sometimes gets hard to remember if we're on a friend's list or not. Thanks for offering. Well, I have seen better discussions, I just don't now what to write about most of the time. Nothing really that exciting happens to me in real life, LOL.

I'm thinking If You're posting at the same time about the same subject as a bunch of other people on here,You're doing quite well to be getting "only" 9 responses..boredom seems to set in fairly quickly among Mylotters unless you have something original and interesting to talk about.Having a bunch of friends who you interact with and might in turn respond to your posts can help too..

I hope I'm not trying to post the same subject others are posting on, I'm an original so I try to post different things. Thanks for the tip though.

I think we can't do anything If we post something similar to others because there's always an open idea which mean your idea can be on other idea too. Have a great day!

I tend to agree with that also. I think there are so many people on this site that we can respond to the same discussions but by different people.

Thanks maygodblessu44, that was a great post. I keep marching on despite everything else that happens to me. This is just a small part of my daily life as compared to everything else but just was left wondering is all. I will just go with the flow of things and keep improving things if I can.

Your not doing anything wrong on here. Your post might not be interest to someone else that is why no one will comments on it. For me I am not posting many articles on here because I hardly think about good articles to post. So what I did was to comments on any articles that I am interested to comment about.

If that the case, my friend. I think much better for you to comment only and just post 3 or 4 discussion in a month. Try to make 30 comments a day or more. Then make a good article that other may interested to read about. If you notice post that being reacted by many. Those are about love and relationship. Those articles are having a question marks at the last part of the article so that people have the interest to participate if they think they know the answer...

That is true, some of the others don't have an interest in what I post and vice versa and then nothing gets answered so much. I can't think of anything either, even the ones I do post seems lame to me but I see that they are similar to the kind others post at times and they get tons of posts. I wonder if we get as much earned if we only respond to other's discussions though?

Oh I do love commenting but also posting a discussion or so once in awhile as well. 30 comments a day might take some time, and my keyboard is wearing out too, LOL. Thanks for the advice though. I didn't know which topics were the most popular, but it makes sense that love and relationship is one of them.

myLot is a complete package and posting discussions is just one aspect of it. Nine responses is not as bad as not having any. Perhaps you could give up posting topics for a while and concentrate on responding. You could even comment on responses posted by others to topics that are not posted by you. There is so much you can do here.

You have got several responses to this topic!! That is how it works here. Some topics get noticed and some not. You will soon become 'rich and famous here'!

LOL @ rich and famous, only I could dream of such a thing. I did notice this one discussion has the most responses than any other discussions of mine now, wow.

That is true, I respond to alot of discussions too all throughout the day when I have some extra time, my keyboard is worn out from so much typing here and other sites. I have some discussions that only get 1-3 too responses, not always 9 or more.

How many friends do you have? If you don't have a lot of friends, odds are not a lot of people are seeing your discussions. I answer all of my friend's posts before I go look to answer any other ones. I think I owe it to people on my friend list to do their's first. The more people on your friend list, the more replies you'll get. And if you think you have a lot and you're still not getting any replies, you might want to take a look at the people on the list. A lot of them probably aren't active. I have a lot of friends on my list, yet my last couple of discussions got less than fifteen. Sometimes what we are interested in just don't interest other people.

I have quite a few but most are the newbies or fairly new ones. I don't mind either way, though. A new friend on here is better than someone who isn't interested anymore cause they know they have enough friends and no time for others. I did ask a few to be friends, recently as well. So I hope no one gets offended if I ask.

I don't think anyone would be offended. Are any of your friends GardenGerty, Carmelanirel, Hatley, or RitterSport? If they aren't on your friend list I would recommend requesting them as friends.

It takes a while to build up a following. Reply to discussions that interest you. Find people with the same interests and ask to be their friend. You will get more yeses if you have spoken to them a few times first. Once you have a large friend network, you will get tons of responses. But anyway, quality is more important than quantity.

As you can tell from my name and picture, I am a cat freak. I only have 8 at this time. Cats rule my world. I have spent many a summer bottle feeding abandoned kittens. Mos of the adult cats I have are those than didn't get adopted. I can only place so many.

Yes sems to. I do try to reply to many discussions, the ones about cats I really like as I do have a cat and love animals. I will try to ask more people to be friends, I get new friends asking me to be friends at least 2 X a week. I like the fact that quality is greater than quantity too.

Well, it doesn't look as if you had any trouble with this post. If things lag off again, try only starting one new discussion and then commenting several times on the discussions of others. Most myLotter will reciprocate when you comment on their post and if oyu only start one discussion a day it will make things easier.

Be careful about complaining on myLot. Doing it too much or in a bad way can get your discussion deleted.

Yea, this one has taken off wildly since I started it. Not much more I could say abut it except when I start to complain or "brag" about something just the opposite sometimes happens. Thanks for those helpful hints, too, I appreciate all the input I can get.

Hi, don't give-up this site simply because you fell discourage by not gaining many response to your started discussion. I just visited your profile and opened some of your discussion and find no problems with the way you presented your view about the subject. Simply create a mind set that every discussion is worth responding and there is no such thing as dull discussion when it comes to myLot. I've got a three year old discussion started and some members are still posting their comments to it. I think there's always a right person to response to your discussion. See, I'm now the 2oth person who responded to your discussion. Keep your heads high and be proud to every discussion thread you make. Good luck.

Thank you Fulltank. Wow a three year old discussion? You have been here a long time, me not as long. Maybe thats the problem too I'm not a long time member yet.

I don't know. I wish myLot sent ALL responders a link to the Best-Response when you find one, `coz I'm curious too. The only thing I can think is to become 'friends with' (connections of, whatev ) people whose discussions you respond to (making sure you subscribe to all their new discussions, and hoping the connected people do the same for all your discussions), and keep on responding. And maybe base some of your discussions on 'ideas you get while responding to your friends.' But try not to start too many discussions-a-day ... do at least one-a-day, and more only if you're inspired to (i.e. don't try to do more than one). Good way to keep it low enough: respond to at least one friends' discussion for every discussion you start. And spend most of your time responding to friends' discussions.

Thanks for the helpful hints, I see that I might have to re-do my mylotting on here. I thought the more discussions you post of quality the better, too? But I do know you have to post everywhere and not just on your own discussions to the responders.

Oh cool, I hope it works out for you. I shouldn't have said strict above, they are quite lenient. But the poll questions are one of the no-no's that is for sure.

Hi Pegasus, from the looks of things you are really new. The site is kind of strict at what to post as discussions. The biggest one is about a poll questions, they are pulled right away. The discussion should be more in depth of what you're trying to get across to the responders. I hope that helps you out too.

likely you are not doing wrong. i cant tell you how many times ive only gotten a few responses. sometimes not even 9. and lots of weeks i dont do over 3 or 4 discussions. most weeks i dont do any when someone does a bunch every day, i dont see how they can expect lots of responses on all or most of them.

I don't do many per day either, just can't get my mind wrapped around it all these days with so much medical stuff happening lately. I don't expect alot of reaponses, but I sure wonder why so many have over 34+ but I guess I'll get over it and take what I get.

Don't get yourself down. I had some posts not answered by people also. I must say that I didn't do enough, or my grammar or topic didn't attract people's attention. So, I might need to search more interesting topics, or I might need to improve my writing skills. Ultimately, I just want to make some money, and take this opportunity to improve my writing skills also.

I still post on people's discussion even if they have "bad writing skills" as I know alot of folks on here are not good with it but I can still understand what they're trying to get across anyways. I guess I'll have to search for more interesting topics as well.

You are not doing anything wrong. We all have bad moments and good moments, you know. My last few discussions doesn't have lots of responses, but I know once in a while I will have at least one which is more interesting. It sounds to me like you are doing something right. I very seldom get nine posts to any of my discussions. I have recently had no responses to two of my discussions while others got one or two. Some have gotten about 9 or more but the average for me is between three and five. I do not take it personal. My discussions are original and thought provoking. Maybe not many people were interested in my topic. Maybe I posted it at a bad time of day. Maybe there other discussions posted that interested mylotters more. I am satisfied with what I do get.

I also just read in another discussion that interesting titles work. Something that gets attention or makes people curious. That might help. Like somebody else said I also look for discussions started by friends. I don't see anything wrong with your discussions. I think they've been interesting! I have no idea if my titles are that interesting or not. I do answer alot of my friends discussions but then again I wish it would happen the other way around and not with just the same few people all the time, like some of you are so nice to do for me. Thank you for the friends I have who do support my discussions no matter if they're good or bad.

Yes I'm doing great------now on this one. Maybe it's due to the way I have asked a question and people are curious if I did anything wrong somewhere and do not know where or how until they open the discussion.
