I want a new phone

I want a new phone that does more and has the "feel" of a smart phone if it straight out just isn't one. I found one that has the "look" and "feel" and may even have apps but I'm not sure. It's only $30.00 so if I don't like it I've not lost out so much... I may get it on my next paycheck or if it's still there by the time I get "paid" from here but I just don't know... How often do you get a new phone?

I don't switch often. Only if something happens or I change subscribers. If you are with StraightTalk, have you looked online at their site? They have refurbished phones rather cheap. I don't know if that would interest you or not. I was going to get one of the nice Nokia was only 49.99 with free shipping over the Mother's Day holiday.

That's where I found the phone I was talking about, I am pretty sure. Yeah I wasn't aware they had refurbished phones until recently when I did look. I like that. There was a phone for like say $70.00 and it was a smartphone, I saw it at walmart but they said it was discontinued and the display needing to be taken down.

I think it would be a good investment to try the refurbished ones from the straight talk website. I hate trying to shop for anything electronic at Walmart. I swear their customer service keeps going down hill further and further every single day. Good luck with the phone hunt.

I've been using my old phone's camera facility heavily for years, and while I haven't photoed anything yet with the new phone, I've only had it since Monday and I burned my finger Tuesday and sprained my ankle Thursday, so I haven't been doing a lot of the stuff I normally do.

five years isn't bad. I like to use my phone for facebook chat and text, plus a good camera. That's all I really require. I used to get a phone very six months give or take.

We've had our current phones for about 3 years now. I think we had our previous phones for about 3 years as well. We want new phones but are putting off the purchase until we are in a more solid financial position.

It's going to take a lot to get me into a "more solid financial position" but that's only because I don't save. I'm lucky yet unlucky to only have one bill and that's my cellphone... I live with family again and need to get out but at the same time I have to do other things for myself first! Anyway, I wouldn't be thinking of getting a new phone if I was on a contract as it often involves a lot more...

I got a new phone recently. It looks kind of like a Blackberry, though that is not the reason I chose it. At the time I thought it was the best option for the price ($59). I guess the next phone I get will be one that you can do more stuff online with. That won't be for quite some time though.

Mine looks like a blackberry and I am pretty certain it's from samsung. I got it through straight talk, the company I have my cellphone with. I thought you could do more with it, or it'd be atleast better for the net, but it's not. $59.00 isn't all that bad though. I think I got this about six months ago give or take for $79.99.

I had a no contract deal with AT&T that came with the same features as long as you let them debit your checking account. Then they switched plans and now I have $50 unlimited. On that plan there are select phones and of the ones they showed me, one was cheaper and I think one or two cost more, I decided to go with the one I have since I don't plan on using it to get online. I have a computer and a small tablet and I rarely am in a situation where I need to connect and can't do it so I figured a fancier phone could wait.

I suppose that it depends on preference. My own phone is a smart phone, which has internet access, and can be used as a wifi hub- but is on a contract, with almost unlimited minutes/ text, and no limits on data/ downloads. The contract is £30 per month- but then I am not paying for a land line 9£12 rental) or a broadband connection (anything from £20 a month upwards. Hope you like your new purchase.

It sounds like you really have a nice bundle there just by having a phone. I used to be on contract but over here they can be kind of pricey. I'd rather be off of contract as it's only $45.00 and I can still have them debit my account if I so wish. I'm quite addicted to the facebook app and I do like being able to mylot, so I may go for a smarter phone afterall, I'm just not sure yet. I suppose it will have to be a thing I treat myself with at Christmas.

Studies show that on average, that a person will tend to lose a phone every 2 year which is the reason im guessing for 24month contracts

Maybe so, who is to say. I've never lost a phone but I've had a friend who has. Now in the age of smart phones people have them glued to them so no losing them lol.

I've been using cellphones for around 11 years and I'm on my third phone. It doesn't have a camera or anything except calling and text. Since I'm home most of the time, I don't need anything else. When I do get a new phone, it will probably be a freebie from my service provider when I renew the contract. $30 isn't bad, though. I wish I could find a good one at that price. BUT my daughter gets a new one about every year and so does almost everyone else.

I think for me it used to be about every six months, I think a few times I'd get one every three months. I wasn't very careful with my phones at first and so that is part of it. However they weren't ever that bad where I couldn't use them. One phone I had I loved, I downloaded a game on it and played it a few times. then I upgraded and couldn't redownload the game because that phone wouldn't support it. I've had a smartphone and I like them but all I want it s a facebook app and a camera.

I hate my smart phones bill. I liked the old one better because it was $30 less a month and that adds up fast. I do love having all the internet at my fingertips though. I was able to wait a year to buy my new computer and just use my phone to get emails and necessities. I get new phones when my current phone doesnt work anymore. We only use cell phones here so its a necessity.

It's not exactly a smart phone, though I believe it does have the facebook app, that's about it. Nice camera, and texting capabilities, that's all I need.

I haven't had a new phone in forever..lol. I have been thinking of getting myself a new one too. They have recently fixed the issues they were having in my area with Straight Talk and their smart phones but I have still been watching..lol. Verizon and T-mobile both have unlimited deals now too.

Phones are one of the most overpriced and over hyped products out there. If you really want the phone that you saw go ahead and get it as $30.00 is really inexpensive for a phone. I have an Iphone and love it- not for the phone but for the apps. I am waiting for the new one to come out in the fall and will purchase it then. I get a new phone every couple of years and pay big bucks. I really do like the iphone but not for the phone, as i said and I do feel I fall under the spell of the hype and I do feel that they are way overpriced. That being said, I will buy one and that is why apple is making such big bucks from people like me. We want our toys, no matter how overpriced they may be.

I've seen iphones before and they look prety awesome but I just wouldn't shell out the money for it. To me that's just a waste. I went without a phone of my own for like four years and I guess that changed me and my perspective. Back years ago I would probably be owning the Iphone myself, but now i"m just happy with the littlest things when it comes to technology. Phone companies give the "hype" and make you fall victim for the new phones. Until they may a phone that can fold up as small as you want it but be as big as say the largest computer screen and do all that a computer can do, no thanks.
