It's been almost a year now and I noticed my hair is getting longer again. I want to color it but I'm worried of using strong kind of chemicals that can damage it again. I already stop re-bonding and let my natural wavy hair grow but it is very dull and I want to have a little glow in my hair.
Any suggestion on what type of hair color should I used that has no strong chemicals that can damage my hair?

I use an all natural hair dye. It's called "tints of nature". It's manufactured in the UK by Herb UK. I bought it locally. I like it very much. I don't know how any different colors it comes in. They didn't have many at the store where I bought it. There's also a company called Palette by Nature. Their website is www.palettebynature.com They have a lot of colors shown on this site. I had to stop using regular dyes at the hairdresser's because I got allergic to it. The last time I got my hair dyed with regular dye was last year and my scalp got burned from it. When I got home my head was itchy. When I scratched it, it felt kind of dry and scabby. I looked in the mirror and I had little dry scabs like after a burn. I changed hair colors. Hope this helps. Good luck!

There are other sites you can buy natural hair dyes from. If you search "all natural hair coloring products" you'll find a lot of them! Another one is www.ecoclors.net I'm sure you can find one you'll be able to get. Have fun! Maybe next week you'll be a blonde???? :D

I have the same problem. I want to color my hair again since the last time I dyed my hair was last year and I think it damaged my hair. My hair has gotten dryer and I got a lot of split ends. I am also planning to rebond my hair since it's getting thicker and unmanageable. So now I want rebond and color for my hair but the problem is it's already damaged, I'm worried the damage might get worse because of the rebond and color. I think whichever color you choose for your hair, the damage is still the same. What hairstylists recommend is to have a monthly or weekly treatment for hair like hair spa or hot oil.

Try to treat it with cellophane treatment it works for me and then I do it every three months and try to rest your hair for a year so your natural hair will come back.

I am of little use here as I have never colored my hair. I know that people use chamomile and henna for natural color though and here is an article that mentions them:

I always find it to be a scary experience when deciding to color your hair. I know that the more drastic you're making your hair the more chemicals they will need to use which will cause the most damage. Sometimes certain hair types "holds onto" the color easier, my hair dresser always checks under the foils periodically as to not keep them in for longer than needed. I would stay as close to your natural color as possible, I hope you're happy with the result in the end.

I use Henna and indigo on my hair, but that is to color the gray, I don't know if using henna will give you a burgundy color you want with your dark hair, but if you buy the good stuff, not only does it give you a good color, but it makes your hair soft..

You might want to do some research, see if using just henna will give you that glow. Because any lighter highlights you have, will turn color and henna is the best option in my opinion...

I also wish I could die my hair. Can't do it at home because there is so much grey in the front of it now. It used to be a reddish brown with copper highlights. If I were to do it now I had planned on getting Nice n' Easy because it has the highlists all mixed in and the commercial make it sound like it would turn out bright and looking good. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. I Hope it turns out the way you want it to.

I would go to a beauty salon supply type store. Tell them what you are looking for and they can direct you from there. They do have products now that don't smell of chemicals but I am not sure on their ingredients. Someone in a supply store would be more knowledgeable.

I really want to color my hair as well because it is getting really long and I am also starting to get some gray in my hair and I want to cover that up. However, just like you I am hesitating to do it because of the fact that I don't want to damage my hair either.
However, there are a lot of natural and only semipermanent colors that you can use on your hair that don't have harsh chemicals in them. That is what I am planning to do to my hair.

I strongly recommend the mild hair color type. You can actually buy it in major supermarkets. Loreal have it, you can mix the powder with a water and you done with the mixture. You can put it in your hair without any chemical needed. It is mild and have a soft effects to your hair. Make sure you checked the time when you put it to your hair and it should not exceeds in 30 minutes. Wash it thorougly in downward position and ladder you head for the excess hair color mixture. Goodluck to your new hair color!!!

Keeping the hair in natural color is always good for hair and scalp. If you want to do different things it will slowly shows the side effects later in your life. Always use natural coconut oil that will give strength for both your hair and scalp. If scalp become damage then you will lose your hair. In my personal opinion hair is more important than coloring expecially for women. Because it shows them more beautiful.

i think blue color suites you like in the photograph of your profile. I think you should try hair dye that do not have no chemicals. Go for natural one and do not go for artificial one. i think it is good to go for colors that suite you.

i think coloring our hair in itself is very damaging. i like to dye my hair in the past, but i think it really damages my hair and therefore i have stopped colouring my hair.
I have the same issue as you do. i feel that my hair is very dull too. when i was 15, i went for rebonding once but i didnt like my hair to be all that straight.
i was in the saloon the other day and the person was telling me that if i want more glow on my hair, i can try mixing honey and egg york and applying it to my hair for about 10-20 minutes then wash it away.
i'm not too sure about the effect thou cause i didnt' try it

You already did at the age of 15? Well I will not let my daughter put chemicals in her hair at the young age. Still your hair is very young to damage.

hi there lyn! i just had my hair colored today! we have our local salon here in our barangay and my mother trusts the stylist so much that I too trust her. she suggested I color my hair red and so I agreed because I would also want to try red because I am tired of black or brown. the result is fine. it really pays to have a salon r stylist that is your friend and that you can trust your hair too

some hair colors does not effect right away the damage on their hair. I've done so many things before in my hair that's why now I'm very very careful about that. At first the result is fine but when days and months you can see the side effect of it. I just hope it will not happen to you.

Hi Ms. Lyn, your from the Philippines right, and I suggest go to the nearest HBC branches and buy Hortaleza products, me, my family and friends used it for so many years and I thinks its one of the best hair colors. But also if you want your hair more beautiful you should consult first for the hair experts, they know better about hairs and what to put on that because we have different types of hair. And for hair glow I suggest L'Oreal hair treatments :)

Hi Abi thanks, I almost tried to used most of the brand in HBC and I can say that all products are not safe for my hair their are a lot of chemicals that can damage my hair. I'm looking for like a herbal or natural one with no harsh chemicals. I've seen one online but not here available in our country.

if you want to change the color of your hair and reduce the damage to it. You can use same expensive color dye with high quality. And i also do my hair recently and it really do some harm to my hair. So the best way to aviod it is you just let your hair grow in a natural way. If you really want to make your hair , you can have a talk with the hairdresser. May he could give you some professinal advice according to your requirement and your hair situation.
