How Do You Forget??

I have known a few people that have been poor for most of their life. Grew up poor and were poor for some of their adult life. Then...their life changes and somehow they come into money and their whole attitude changes. I do not understand this at all. They act snotty and think their better than everyone else. My question is, how do they forget where they came from so easily?

They say money can go into your head... Thats what happens with these guys. I would not say that all of them forget that they were poor too. Some stick to the reality, live wisely and try help others to get out of poverty too. However, things go wrong with a few. They think, they are born with special gifts and so are awarded the riches of the Heavens. We should forgive 'em, because they never really become happy... Have a good weekend!

Yeah the few people I am talking about did let money go to their head. They act like they are better than everyone else. Too bad they used to be just as poor! Your right they will never be truly happy.

Right such people are never happy because they lack peace... The internal satisfaction is absent with them... They are aware that they don't have something, but they don't know what it is... They're too proud of themselves... And that unnecessary pride kills their happiness... So don't bother about 'em... :-) Take care....

I've witnessed some people in my life who changed attitude because of money or fame. Those kind of people who doesn't know how to look back where they came from and what or who pushes them to reach their dreams. So pity they never realize that life is like a wheel- if ever they comes down again they will meet those people again.

Yeah I have seen it too sadly. Yes if they are ever poor again sad to say they will pretty much have nobody, their rich friends will not want them around and their poor friends will be upset with how they were treated!

That's easy. They were snobs to start with. They just didn't have the money to show it! You have to remember you are special. You will remain the same sweet person you have always been when you make your fortune!

I'm the same way. The only two things that would change would be I have money to do things When I want to. I would still work and hang out here too!

You might be absolutely right! Money or anything else could not change me which is why I guess I do not understand this. I hope not to be rich but to be comfortable and if it ever happened I would still be here talking to my friends all the time and I would still hang out with the same people.

Many people I know with this attitude and I can say each of them has its reason tho of course none of those reasons are enough to justify for acting such a b$tch. These are the reasons I concluded: One reason is that they had enough humiliations and rejections when they were poor and a nobody in the society so when they got something they thought its all enough for them not to be belittled again by others because they think they already belong to the high society. Second reason i see is pride. Third is vengeance. And will forth I will say because of stupidity. They thought once they now possess plenty of money they became great.

And besides, based on my own observation money cant buy a genuine respect and acceptance. People may treat you good because you have money or power but hello, beware coz 100 percent people with ill character will only pay you good manners when you are around them and bite you from behind. So money really wont give a true good change from our misfortune, but a good character with in us can go a long way..

Your right there is no good reason for anyone to act this way... They are going to be sorry if they ever lose that money though. They will belong no where. The rich people will not want to be around them anymore because they are no longer rich and the poor people will not want them around because they hurt them and treated them badly...They will eventually be sorry for acting this way!

hello, grow up in poor family is not a problem, because even if you are poor, you have so many ways to uplift your standing in life,by finding ways and means to have good job in order to have money, its a decision and determination to become rich in life, as to your your second concern, (how do they forget where they came from so easily?) i think its a denial, because in reality if you came from that certain area, i you cannot forget it easily, the good and bad memories is their to remind you.

I know I am poor, grew up poor and haved lived with it my whole life. But I am still happy with my husband and kids. Your probably right, denial is a possibility. A sad one but its true. They do not want to remember...

There are many reasons why we wish to forget things, be it that memories make us sad, embarrassed, angry or just uneasy.

it actually is very common for this to happen, they want to forget their past, I hope for them their money never wears out because they have build a few too many bridges along the way.

I agree with you. If their money does run out many of them will be very sorry that is for sure!

Money really doesn't change people. It simply allows them to be more of who they are. When someone comes into money and turns snobbish, it wasn't that the money made them as such. At heart, they always held those values; the money simply allowed those attitudes to rise to the surface.

That is a different perspective but a good one. The money just allowed them to be more of what they are. True, I never thought of it that way before.

I know some people like this now that not only forget where they came from, but forget the people who helped them when they had nothing. Now they turn their noses up and barely look their way. They will not give them a helping hand at all. And yes, they now think they are better than those who helped them. I don't understand this attitude myself. I can't imagine what they could be thinking but one thing I know about life is you can be up today and down tomorrow. They don't know when things can turn on them and even if it does not, they should be thankful for getting to the place they are now.

Uh-huh, I know exactly what you mean. It is awful how easily they forget where they came from and who helped when they needed it the most. How terrible. Yes they act like the people in their lives before the money are scum. Meanwhile at one time they were in the same exact spot! Things can change in an instant. As fast as you got that money you could lose it. Sad for them...

I think poor people who come into money change is the money changes them. They knew how it was to be poor and they don't want to go back! They want the whole world to know how hard it was being poor! They want peaople to feel sorry for them, even though they have money now! That is how I look at it!

I think to an extent it changes their situation and their attitude a little because they can now hang out with other rich snotty people. If that is all you see and all your around unless your a very strong person you will start acting the same as they do. The person I am thinking of always claims she is broke which really ticks me off. Her idea of being broke is not being able to take 5 vacations a year, she can only take 2 this year! Big deal. This year will be my first vacation EVER since I have been a grown woman. I am thrilled that I am able to go on one! She should be more grateful for what she has...

I have an example - Find a street animal who had his last eatery some days back and it wasnt enough. Give him some bread. You would see that it forgets everything and the only thing that plays and occupies it is - how quick I eat it... Similar happens with people whom you talk about. They forget everything, and focus only on the money or their riches - such people are the most dangerous friends and the highest chances of finding a betrayer in such friends.

That is a good point. They do forget. I would think people would be more intelligent than that though...We are supposed to be anyway.

I have to agree with grace. I think they don't want to remember because they like having the money and hated not having it so they are in denial, hoping never to go back to where they came from. It is sad but true that most people find great shame in being poor and once they are no longer poor, they just don't want the reminder.

Yes, indeed. Karma is a killer sometimes, n'est ce pas?

Yes I thought grace had a good point too. I never really thought about denial. The really sad part though is going to be if and when they lose that money, no one will want to be around them anymore because how they treated them when they were rich.

They do forget and it is terrible if that is the case. They should remember what it was like and what they went through so they can be better people.

I call these kind of people weak. They are overcome by their new life, freedom from famine, and power that they tend to forget who and what they were before. These people still have fears in them. Fear not to be accepted by their peers because of their past. They tend to forget what they were before because sometimes their past stop them from moving on.

I agree with you that they are weak people. Yeah I am sure they still feel worried about being accepted.
