It's one of the reasons why I let myself took the course of Information Technology. I am a problem solver. I don't take "I don't know" for an answer as I believe that for every problem there is a corresponding answer/answers. But I am a human and I have limits to how much of a problem I can solve.
For some reason others view my way of solving things as not solving the problem at all--on certain problems. Since they only see me sit down in a corner and do other things. An example of this is when the problem can't be solve easily and would take time. For others, they want the problem to be solved in haste. I don't know why, though. I just know that certain problems can be solved without having to stress oneself with over-work and would need a lot of waiting and patience. Maybe it's because of how things go nowadays. We're in an era where everything should be fast that most of us can't keep up with it--like me.
Anyways, how do I solve problems? Here's my first step. Lock myself into a room. Turn off all lights, sit down and clear my mind. For some reason, solutions just appear. And contrary to how I solve problems with a lot on my mind, I find many options if I just clear my mind of all things even the problem itself. And if this does not help, I list down things like this:
My current problem at hand: "How to leave my pigheaded father and the house the fastest?"
Conditions:
(1) Take with me my brothers and sister and mother as well.
(2) Be able to provide for them for at least 3 years. Maximum: 3 generations ahead. [Yeah, I take things to the extreme]
Options:
(1) Borrow money in the bank to invest.
(2) Work online.
(3) Invest my remaining savings on shares.
(4) Create an online shop to sell off crafts.
etc.
Then I list down the options I take to solve the current problem at hand.

Sorry, I had to use the thing that suddenly popped into my head. I seriously can't think of other problems I have that I can put it in that way since most of my problems is "how do I finish my crochets at the same time mylotting at the same time reading manga (comic books) within the week?" It's just so simple that it's childish compared to the problem I have provided where a person will really be challenged to think.
Maybe I could have provided: "How to earn money without going out to a job everyday?" But it's too late now. I had already used another problem.

I think that problems should be faced head on. Pros and cons listed on paper or in your head. I try not to over think it too much or it becomes nearly unsolveable. Your frst instinctual thought is usually best. With more experience the problem solving becomes easier to do.

Hey there celtic,
Head on huh, i guess that is right i mean no point in taking too much time backing away then try to solve it after because somebody else might solve it for you and then you loose the opportunity of getting it done, so i guess you are right and yeah inn time of doing this all the time you do get to be sharp in solving your problems more smoothly and efficiently. Thanks for the comment.

Nope not always. Sometimes I think that there are problems that I cannot resolved. It would be a very frustrating experience for me when the problem I'm dealing at hand seems to have no solution. But often times, when it seems that you don't have a solution, someone will have come to my aid. And many times, there are many people whom I would seek advice which often times I follow.

Yeah me too i do get to frustrated at ties wherein i don't have any answers to the questions that i face, but then again like you i also seek out people whom i trust and believe that has the right answers, but most times i do just research for the answers thoroughly before seeking help.

I don't have solutions to all the problems, thus sometimes i seek family or friend's help. But before going to them, I usually try to solve it on my won. When it becomes too much of a burden, then i share it with them even if they don't have the right solution.
There are problems though that even though I know how to solve it, I just can't apply the solution. I refuse to apply the solution because i think running away from it and time is the best thing to do.

hey there toni,
WOW that second mini paragraph of yours blew me away, well i guess there are just somethings in life that makes us just wanna run away , i have ran away from some problems in my life but now coming to think about it maybe i shouldn't have, but time has already passed so no point in sulking, just looking ahead is much better.

Problem solving is a main thing in computer sciences.
Almost every subject there is about solving problems. Take for examples "introduction to computer science" , they teach you a programming language and give you problems to solve. You need to understand the material , how to represent things with the programming language and how to manipulate the information to solve the problem. You have to understand all the definitions , all the tools you got , you need to think about new ideas that are concluded from the given information.
When I deal with a problem , I need to understand all of the basic definitions it deals with , I need also to understand basic facts that are true about the problem and I start to play with the facts by combining them and applying them to one another. I get new conclusions and repeat the process again until I prove what I needed.
It's like you need to prove something in geometry , you need to consider (1)All of the given facts of the problem and (2) All of the facts that are not given but are also true about the problem.
The hard thing starts with number (2)... Some facts that are not given but are still true ... some of them are concluded from the given facts , some of them come from the learning material , some of them come from another material that was not learned...
