take the medicine

as a manager, my father lead a busy life.he has beer belly and hypertension.he smokes a lot,especially during the compotation.he likes golf but doesn't often play it,which means he doesn't own enough time to exercise.there saying gose like the body is the capital of revoluution but it's meaningless to my father.now he has caught a pyredic cold and even refused to take any medicine.always, he believes that the side-effect will do harm to his body,ignoring the healing effect.i just cann't get it.totally mess up with a little worry as well as blame.now he is still coughing and sneezing.how can i persuade him?!
