Two months ago, I've mentioned in one of my discussions that I got my very first payout on Squidoo. Unfortunately, when I went to my PayPal to check it, I didn't see the money in my account. I emailed Squidoo twice regarding this matter but still hasn't got any reply from them (other than their automated reply). I contacted PayPal and a couple of days later, they told me my account is in good standing and is in fact, very ready to receive payments. I was relieved to know that, but it didn't totally take away my worries.
However, I was surprised to received an email from Squidoo this week. It wasn't about my first payout though. It was about my second payout! I went to my PayPal and was very delighted to see the money added to my account (only the second payment)! It isn't really much, but it is the first ever payment I've actually received for writing online.

Hi Devilova. When I first signed up on Squidoo, I was skeptical about earning money from it. So I published one lens to test the water. I didn't get much traffic and I felt like giving up. Some of my online friends encouraged me to keep trying. I published a few more lenses and had earned a few pennies. I also tried to update my lenses regularly to keep my articles fresh. After less than a year, I finally reached my first payout. I was elated.
I notice that I don't earn from all my lenses. One of my best lenses is about abacus. I guess articles about abacus is scarce so it's easy to find my lens.
I really don't know what kind of lenses has the highest earning potential. You just have to find what topic works best for you. My sister also writes on Squidoo, but she hasn't earned anything from it. She wants to publish more lenses but most of her articles contain what Squidoo considers as "spammy" words. She enjoys writing about the different ingredients found in beauty products which Squidoo doesn't allow.
I hope you keep on trying. If my friends haven't encouraged me, I guessed I have given up a long time ago.:P

How many article did you write at squidoo if I may ask to know? It is sad anyway when you do not get the reward after putting in all the hard work. However, it is also true that it takes some time for money to come in from online writing sites. The money generated by your articles will depend on the page views. The more page views your articles will get the more money you will be making.

Hi silverfox. If you really loved writing, I encourage you to continue building more lenses. Just be patient and you will see results.:) Honestly, it's hard to earn with just two lenses. I'm not an expert, and I don't know what kind of lenses would make more money. So I just keep on writing lenses to find out what works best for me. I'm glad I didn't lose hope after many months of trying.

Congrats on your first payout mysdianait! I have no idea what happened to my first payout. That is weird. I'm still waiting for Squidoo's reply. :( I checked my payout settings and I'm sure I have selected "I want cash!".

Hi lifes97. That's too bad. Perhaps Squidoo doesn't work for everyone. I'm into writing so I stayed even if I thought it was hopeless. I'm glad that you've found other ways to earn online.

Good for you! I just started making squidoo lenses and hope to make a little extra change there. How long did it take you to reach your first payment? (if you don't mind me asking)

Hi luckyblue. I started on Oct. 1, 2011. I reached my first payout in June, 2012. I know it took me so long to reach my payout, but I haven't been active on Squidoo in my first few months. If I remembered it correctly, I had only two published lenses for several months.
In October, 2011, I was really tired of seeing almost zero traffic to my lens, so I posted a link on Squidoo forum under "Critique Me" category. Other Squids started to notice me, and I saw an increase in my visits. The next month, I saw a few cents in my earnings, so I got motivated and published another lens. It didn't get much traffic, and I grew tired. After some weeks, I started transferring my old articles to my Squidoo account. Most of them are travel lenses. They gained some traffic even without my promoting them. After every payday, I saw my earnings increase, until I finally reached my payout in June. It was really not much. To tell you the truth, I chose the lowest payout threshold, so you can imagine now how small my earnings are LOL. I know there are other newbies who are doing much better than I am, but my earnings still mean so much to me! It feels nice!
It's great that you're writing on Squidoo too. Keep writing high-quality lenses, and don't give up.:) If you're the type of person who gets discouraged easily, I suggest you set your payout threshold to the minimum. This way, you will reach your payout sooner, and this would motivate you to build more lenses.

Congratulations Cheefulnuts! I am a lensmaster myself but am not making money yet on squidoo. May I know how you get traffic? Can you create a lens and just update it from time to time and not promote it really, can I still get traffic that way?

Congrats cheerfulnuts! I like writing in squidoo, and it's strange you didn't get a first payout. Did you got the blue box telling you how much money you earned in your first payout.
If you're a beginner you can make a lens about your earnings. I have one http://www.squidoo.com/my-earnings-on-squidoo.
It's not so much what I'm earning, but I'm very anxious to see my next payout :)

Hi Hazelme. It's nice to see another lensmaster here on myLot.:) Yes, I got a blue box and an email from Squidoo. I have no idea what happened to my first payout.
I don't earn much too, but I still get excited every 15th of the month.:P It makes me happy to make money by doing something I love.
Well, I hope you'll reach your next payout soon!

I'm really happy for you cheerfulnuts. I have some earnings from writing online as well but haven't really received those earnings in Paypal (because they haven't reached the threshold yet). I am encouraged to write on Squidoo thanks to you. It's great you didn't lose heart despite your problem with the first payout. Congratulations!

Seriousnuts, I'm looking forward to reading more of your lenses.:) Try to write something else. I'm sure if you published more lenses, you'll have more chances of earning. I don't earn from all my lenses, but I can't pinpoint which topics give me the highest income. Sometimes, one of my lenses that doesn't earn much would be my highest earning lens the next month. I just can't tell what topics are the best. So I guess we just have to keep on writing.

Congratulations. I am sure that was a very nice surprise. Hopefully you can find out about the first payment and actually get the money from that also. I have never written for squidoo but I understand many people do. I have heard it is hard to keep your lenses active so that is why people give up on squidoo. Have you found that to be true?
Anyway- keep up the good work. I know the best incentive to keep actively writing for a these companies are the payments and I am very happy for you.

It is still great to know that you have got paid eventually, missing the first payout. However, it is a sad fact when there is no positive response from the other end while making a query about a problem or complaint with any site you have account with. It would be interesting to know that how many days has it taken to get your first payment and also how many articles have you published.

Hi bdfreelancer. Yes, it's quite sad that I haven't received any response from Squidoo yet. I'm still waiting though. Anway, I'm glad that I got my second payout.:)
I've published only twelve lenses. Most of them are about my travels. I joined Squidoo in October, 2011 and got my first payout in June 2012.

That's good to hear. I created an account in squidoo and I'm thinking of a nice post to write. I'm glad to hear that someone is enjoying writing online and get what she deserves.
