We didn't have electricity and water for four days

Earlier this week, my country was hit hard by monsoon rains. Floods were above knee-deep in my area (other areas were much worse though). We lost electricity and water for four days. I hadn't charged my cellphone and my netbook. There was no way to contact my friends to ask how they were doing. We couldn't leave our home and we had no idea what was going on in other areas. Our water supply was running low, so I decided to collect rain water for toilet flushing. Those were really difficult times, but I'm thankful that my entire family is safe and we didn't lose a home (we live in an apartment building).
I know that a lot of myLotters are Filipinos. Did the flood hit your home? I hope everyone's okay.

I am so sorry to hear that you suffered much this flood. Although I know somewhere else there are much worst areas that were hit by these floods. I think losing power in your area was a good thing to protect others from getting electrocuted accidentally by live wires.

Hi rsa101. Yeah, they cut of our power supply for everyone's safety. I just don't understand why every building around us had electricity except us. We're always the one without electricity. I can live without electricity for a few days, but not having water supply is like torture. :(

Yeah water is really vital in our daily lives. We experience that during the water crisis where we have to line up in a FIRE HYDRANT just to get water for our house. That was the worst experience we have to endure during those water shortage days in our place.
I think it is worth the while to have your connection checked. I am suspecting that there maybe some short circuited connections in your house that prevents your house to be powered.

Oh, that was a terrible experience, rsa101.
Our landlord had already written a letter to Meralco, but he said he was being ignored.

I am sorry my friend, that you were that affected by the flooding there in M. Manila. I hope you have recovered now from that.
Here in our place, Bicol Region are lucky that we weren't adversely affected by the continuous rain.
But we prayed for all those people affected by the flood, my friend.

Yes, this is indeed a wake-up call for everyone. And everyone should make their own share of help to properly dispose all their trash.

Thank you simplyd for your prayers. The floods here is getting worse each time. Perhaps this is a wake-up call to everyone that we have to do something to stop this.

Same with us here. Since we're living in an apartment building, things at home weren't damaged. Our business was affected. Most of our damages in the office were books, CD's, some documents, and some furnishings that are made of wood.

My place is also safe during the monsoon rain that flooded some areas.
Luckily our electric power never goes off, as well water supply and internet connection.
Watching all the devastated areas is indeed a heart breaking scene.
Glad to hear that you and your family are safe.
Yes, your situation is still better compared to our homeless countrymen and some even lost their loved ones.

Although my city is one of those cities declared in state of calamity, my place is safe and I am very thankful (^_^)
Having communication outside thru net/mobile phone is the best way to contact everyone and know what is happening around.
Take care and keep safe always...especially there's another storm coming :(

You're one of the few lucky ones, jaiho2009. I heard in the news that 80% of metro manila (or was it just manila?) was submerged in water. After we got back our electricity, I saw lots of flood-related photos spreading on Facebook.

Thanks for sharing.we faced the same problem last rainy season in my city in india, water entered the city, the power transformers got immersed in water for 3 days; hence they shut down the supply, we has to use candles and kerosene lamps lol.
