Parents Are You Ready For School To Start???

I'm a parent of a child that is starting school for the first time.. I would like some advice for the "newbies" first day.

The most-important thing for them is to make friends. I don't know if it's the best thing to do, but I always decided who my best-friends should be for the year on that school-year's first day (and I think I can still remember who most of `em were 
).
Friends are 'what school is for.'
Also, tell them to 'Be good for their teachers.' In elementary-school, I got to where I would call my teachers 'mom' or 'dad' (when we'd have one teacher all day, except for electives/'specials').
And a lot of my 'specials'/electives teachers almost felt like 'aunts & uncles' to me.
