Trying to break this addiction is so hard, but so far I've done a really good job. I want a soda right now so bad. A cola would be really nice right now as well. I'm sad cause I can't have one. I went to the doctor the other day who said I really need to make myself drink water. I hate water its disgusting. No taste at all. People say how can you not like the taste of water. Exactly there is no taste in water is why I don't like it. I try drinking flavored waters and yet the doctor says that is still no help for me. I need to drink regular water. Ugh and yuck. The reason for this is cause I either have a UTI or kidney stones from not drinking enough water and drinking too much soda. I heard kidney stones are painful, but seeing the pain I had has gone away I don't think it was kidney stones thank God, but now I guess its back to nasty water

That is a great idea I may try that when I crave a soda. But actually I have been doing good so far and hadn't had a soda in quite a while. I can't even remember the last time I had one. Maybe the time when I posted this discussion.

Did the Dr say you had to cut it out completely? Cause that sucks. It would have been easier to just try and cut down more and more. I get what you say about water, I don't really like the taste but I do drink it. I don't see why having some flavor in it is bad but I guess if that's what the Dr said then he's more likely to be right than me ha. Good luck.

He didn't so much say I have to cut down on it completely, but he said since I will not drink any water at all besides flavored water he said it is still not good for you. Sometimes you still need to drink regular unflavored water which is something that is better for you. So he thinks it be best that I force myself to drink the regular water. For me to get better from the reason of me going into the doctors office and that I need to continue to drink it so nothing further could occur or the same thing to happen all over again.

The taste of water is really different from the soda's taste. However, we have to drink water and that's for our health. I sometimes can't drink soda too especially if my ulcer is in attack. For months I try to control my urge to drink soda.I think positively. Water will do me good so I have to set aside the soda for awhile than never to taste it again. Happy mylotting!

I think I will have to start using that positive thinking. I am really going to have to try and force myself to drink water. And just look at it as its good for me and it is a step to being more healthy. I'm going to need to stay away from soda for a good while, so I'm going to have to fight the urge to have a soda.

Well this is surely the first time I have heard of someone who doesn't like water. Water is very healthy. It flushes the dirt in our body. It also helps regulate our body temperature. So I guess you need to bear with it. By the way, kidney stones are not always painful. If the kidney stones are small you might not feel anything at all. Some kidney stones can be dissolved by drinking water, specially if its size is not so large. So you can not rule it out just because there is no pain already. So my advice is, keep drinking that nasty water. I wish you the best of health.

Well that is good to know about the kidney stones I will try to remember that as I drink water. That it flushes out toxins and possibly dissolves kidney stones that I may have.

Have you tried accompanying water with your food? At first when I drank water only, I felt a bitter taste. May not be in your case, but that's what it was for me having drank basically a can of Mountain Dew practically every meal. It wasn't great drinking water only, but I persevered. Today has been my 2 and a half year mark of having little to no soda, if not only in social areas where water wouldn't be the option to something I'd be able to drink. If it's any consolation, try drinking water during your meals. It typically dilutes the flavor if you mix them in your mouth than if you mixed them prior to eating it. Hope this helps.

Maybe that is the problem them. I will try your suggestion in drinking water with my food and see if that works. Hopefully it does.

Better folow your doctors advise because they know what's good and bad for us. I don't blame you from not water soda but you have to be strong to try to beat it. You know that what is "bad is good" and what is "good is bad". Drink as much water as you can and when you drink it, think of it as if it's soda..hehehe.. I'm not sure it will work but why not give it a try.

That is good advice on when I drink water think of it as soda. Never tried that. I will have to give that a try on when I drink water. And you are right I have to see it as it is good for me and have to just start focusing on that.
