To eat or to apply that is the question..

I love strawberries. I love blue berries also. But such berries are rare in my country. They require specific climatic conditions which are not prevalent in most part of this country. Or may be I am mistaken. I know they are healthy because plenty of articles on the net says. Kidding. I am finding an excuse for extra helping. :) So my question is, would you rather eat the strawberry or use it in your creams and soaps on your skin? You dont know for sure that they are adding it. Even if they are, you'd end up with less than a 10th of strawberry in your soap which you use for almost a month! (I use a lot because I am a brownie and hope I will be fair someday with all that scrubbing). Now, I love almonds too, and I would rather eat them than apply on my hair. I reckon when I eat these food items the vitamins, minerals, whatever get a greater chance to reach my skin and hair. Do I sound like a foodie?

Hi Vandana! You are not going to get the desired results even if you eat or apply almonds and strawberries. You will remain as it is ....... Lol !

Will wait for you to recharge your phone. Hope it gets 'charged' electronically and balance-wise soon. ..... Lol! While writing my brief response (through my mobile) I was kidding and wanted to say something funny ...... Lol! On a serious note - You are beautiful and smart and will always be. I believe if you consume soaked almonds (after peeling their skin) regularly and keep taking fruits it will not only help maintain your skin texture but will keep you fit and healthy. As far as beauty products are concerned, I understand only essence of almonds or strawberries etc. is used for enhancing aroma and odour. Our natural diet is far far better than any kind of artificial beauty product.

Your reasoning sounds... I am a brownie, too. Like you I like strawberry, blueberry and almond. I rather eat them all though than apply any of it on my skin or hair. I want to have a fair skin, too... but how much strawberry I would need to apply on my skin? I am not that rich. Just as you said, those fruits do not grow easily in our countries...

Well they have not told me how much but they expect me to go on trying those soaps for the next 20 odd years I reckon. I wonder of what use would my fairness be at the age of 73 lol.

Exactly. Those whitening creams are misleading... How long should we apply it? How much many do we have to spend? Wouldn't it better if we save it for our worldwide travel?

Hi Maggiepie How are you doing now? "though I'd prefer not to"..me too..but as we know there is shortage..:( In India trends are reversing. We were obsessed with the zero size for quite sometime. Now we are getting back to our age old pear sizes because that is now the trend. Which means foodies like me get to eat.

I'm not ready to take so much trouble for a foreign fruit. There are so many fruits in our country(India) which are healthy as blue or strawberries. The fruits of India like guava, banana ,mango, jack fruits, apple, orange, blackberries are enrich of vitamins and minerals. We can make up our needs by these fruits.

Ok almonds then. Do you like them? Would you rather their price increases just because women are told that it should be used in hair oil and so many cosmetics manufacturers use it in the oil rather than let people eat it. Mind you we pay almost 4 times the cost of proportionate almonds in that. We could have bad better results if we ate them may be? :)

Hi vandana Strawberries are unaffordable for me. Never had any luck having a feast on those directly from the shops. Though some dishes I had a few months back did say they contained strawberries but I couldnt identify them. But the blue berry - I think it is jamun in Hindi - and if that is it, we had those in abundance here - the trees which now no longer exist on the roadsides, about 25% of them were these. And the poor people would collect them and sell at whatever prices they could - I last had them when they sold a pack of about 40 at 10.00 INR. I love the dried fruits - a delicacy and available in mom-made recipies only during Holi and diwali.

Now from the title of the discussion - there were days when I used to think to have those shampoos or even the soaps in lunch - they show those horrible adverts in such a way

It started with some version of Egg-based protein rich shampoo and then they took it to soaps - some soaps were even looking like little stuffed animals for kids - and then almost everything is said to be so rich with high contents of Proteins, Vitamins, now strawberries (some even put little pieces of colors which look like they have put in some jelly crystals)

hi vanda oh y es we can do that too but usually its not the things that are good for us but the darned fast foods that go straight to one rear and ones tu mmy..but strawberries and bluebrries are really quite low in calories so one would have to eat a ton to grow fat. he he

hi vandy oh I too love strawberries and blueberries here in the US in California strawberries are fairly cheap blueberries are more expensive.they are indeed healthy and thats good for something I like wow. I cannot eat nuts which I love as they will catch in the little diverticula in my colon and make me ill with infection. darn hate that., I really really love nuts.if you sound like a fooodie I do to. why do you want to be fair, brownies can loook lovely and too I am very fair and sunburn too easy yet do not really tan, I hate that,.You are so right eating these great foods will help our skin and hair more than expensive creams with some strawberry or blueberry in them as there's very little of them actually in a cream just a lot of hype instead.

Hatley..can you not get those nuts powdered, and eat may be? I have never tried any except peanuts. I mean we do use peanut powder at times in some of our dishes. But nut is a nut, and its taste starts when we bite it..really sorry .. And I feel cheated when I see that strawberry color on the soap and I cant really eat it like ice cream..lol There are some dark pink bits too..but they are not strawberry for sure..why oh why do they cheat us like that..lol

The best use for a strawberry is to be eaten, not - The best use for a strawberry is to be eaten, not applied on your hair or skin.
Shampoo made of sand. Body cream made of wood. Soap made of stone. They all sound so unappetizing... Opps, thinking of eating again.. :) You have a point that all edibles should be used for food instead of other applications as we are facing more and more food shortages in many parts of the world. I agree with you that strawberry and almonds are best when we eat it in our mouth rather than be used on our hair or skin.

I will prefer to eat them rather than using them as beauty products. And I don't think the companies use fruits to make beauty products like cream, shampoo, beauty cream etc. I too like to eat. :)

Oh but they do..they are also bulk buyers..effectively such fruits get converted to supposedly nutritious powders, or cosmetics, completely devoid of their original taste..lol
