How to remove cat dander from the air

I really love cats but I am allergic to cat dander. Is there a way to remove this dander from the air whenever I scratch/rub my cat?
I enjoy petting and scratching my cat but everytime I do so, my allergies start and I'm left with swollen eyes and nonstop sneezing
