As you may have guessed from my avatar, I'm a member of Freemason... And no, I'm not here to start an argument about the organization... I just wanted to share few experiences... I love being a mason & I've met so many interesting & good people... I have no regrets about joining this great fraternity & I would recommend it to any good, upstanding men... I wear lapel pin on collar of my shirt & I have Compass & square on tail lights of my car... There's a way we can tell if someone is a brother or not by the answers we get to a certain questions... One day, somebody random just walked up & asked "Can you tie a bow?"... I kinda looked at him funny & answered, "Yeah...?". Then it dawned on me... He must have been a brother... I remembered back to when I first joined & remembered the first dialogue... I should've gave him the right answer... I didn't even remember until it was too late... Few days later, I was getting some gas at Agassi station & police pulls in to the pump behind me & must've noticed the logos on the back of my car... He asked me, "I see you're a traveling man...". With the previous incident fresh in my head, I knew exactly what he meant so I did give him a proper answer & we got a chance to have a brief, meaningful conversation... I started wearing compass & square again because of an incident at work... I worked with a guy for 7 years & never knew he was one... I always had an Inkling that he was but never really pursued it... We did become close friends but recently, he passed away rather suddenly... Then I heard his funeral was being held at a funeral home that a brother of my lodge owned... It was fairly out of the way from his neighborhood... Then I found out for sure he was a mason... That's why I've decided that i didn't wanna miss out on letting people know I was a mason... Well, it's not that I was hiding it because I'm proud to be a mason... It's just that subject never came up...
So...!!! Is there other brothers here in mylot? Can you tie a bow? Are you a traveling man?

I didn't think Freemason is active here in the Philippines until I read one of the post here. What does it take to be a member? I think this is a pretty cool fraternity. Some even think that it's related to the Illuminati.

There's no relations between Freemasonry & Illuminati, except there are some people out there that argue that Illuminati is found by member of Freemason... but in modern time, there's no connection... As far as joining Freemasonry, there's a saying, "2B1, ASK1"... Find the lodge closest to you & ask the member... It's that simple...

How would I know who's a member and who isn't? There are a lot of people here, and I don't have the slightest of idea how to determine a freemason.. Does it involve any hazing or induction of some sort?

Hi, your avatar caught my attention. My husband, his older brother, and my uncle are your brothers too in freemasonry. It is an active organization here in my country, the bond they have is really amazing. And proud to be part of it. On the level, by the plumb, upon the square. :)

Believe it or not, people either know one or have come across one & don't even know it... I have a non mason friend who never knew I was a mason till few month ago... We've been friends for little over 10 years... When he found out I was a mason & started to have conversations about it, he started to notice more & more signs of masonry... Then he finally realized he knows more masonic brothers then he thought... Now he's in the process of becoming one...
