I need some advice as to how to get my 4 week old little girl to poop regularly. because she was pooping fine in the first few days, and then he just stopped! I am breastfeeding but supplementing with formula because i want her to get use to the bottle,so that i leave her with my mom to go job hunting. She seemed to be in pain and grunts a lot while trying to go poop. So what can i give are do to make her poop ?

Cut way backon the formula, untilshe is regular again, then slowly give the formula again. Babys have very sensitive systems and it's so easy to get them off. Contact your health professional for other ideas, but be very careful a loose bowel movement is much more dangerious for baby because it can dehydrate them very fast. Hang in there it does get easier, and then they start to crawl. Blessings

I´d give her extra water. But I had the same problem with my youngest daughter and the pediatrician decided to start her on soups when she was 3 months old. The vegetables did wonders and the problem was over.

Sounds like something may be constipating her. The formula could be the problem (the protein is different as well as the iron level - not to mention the fillers) and her stomach can't handle it (you could try a different brand, I know with both of my kids we had to try different brands) or you are eating something that is constipating her. You can bicycle her legs and help her poop when she starts grunting. If it is really warm where you are, you can ask your Dr if it is okay to give her water. She may just not be getting enough liquid to help move things along if she is sweating.

Hello tash and welcome to myLot. Congratulations on the new baby girl. Karo syrup added to the formula will help. When my kids were babies their formula was evaporated milk and karo syrup. We made the formula by adding a can of water to the can of milk and a bit of dark karo syrup. The dark karo syrup was The karo syrup is corn syrup. Dark corn syrup is made with refiners' syrup, a type of molasses. But according to the Mayo clinic It's chemical make up is now different so can be harmful for your baby. You should call your Dr. or start giving her a little water. The formula may not be right for her. Something that may help is to bring her left elbow to her right knee then do the opposite with her right elbow and left knee.. If she has a bad stomach ache she will scream but it isn't hurting her. Well I take it back it hurts but won't harm her. But get in touch with your Dr because you really don't want her to get really constipated.
