It's coming--whether you like it or not--facebook timeline!

Every day for a week now, I have been receiving a big banner across my facebook page saying that on August 16, I will be switched over to facebook timeline--whether I want to or not. I do not like the timeline; I prefer my old facebook page just the way it is. Can I do anything about this (besides saying goodbye to facebook) or am I forced to switch over to timeline? is this date a set date for everyone to switch to timeline, or was it just randomly picked for me?

Oh, good, then there's hope! I "canceled" the request to switch too so we'll see--I have two days left until doomsday! hehehe!

I am not using Facebook Timeline as of now. Neither do I have any wish to use it. Somehow I didn't like it. But if I am forced to use it I will use it. I am on Facebook just to keep in touch with friends nothing more. I feel without Timeline it is simple and looks great. :)

I agree--I use fb to stay in touch with friends, and sometimes get local updates on events or news happening in our area. I really liked it before timeline and still don't understand why they had to change the format.

I have it now, so I am forced to use it. Believe me my fb usage has gone way down--it's just too "busy" for me.

If I am forced to use Facebook Timeline, then I have to use it, anyways it won't make much difference. Except that I feel the Profile page looks uglier in Facebook Timeline. Anyways daily I don't have much time to spend on Facebook. I hardly spend 30 to 45 minutes. Sometimes I play Bubble Safari for recreation, nothing more than that. :D

There's nothing you can do about I'm afraid, Suzie. Timeline's happening whether we want it or not. FB gives you a week's warning before it changes to timeline - you have the option to switch to timeline within that week or wait for FB to change it over once the week's up. Not everyone is being switched at once. It's being staggered. It just happened to be your turn.

You have two days to find out if they do. It's likely they will, unless the person who's changing it is part squirrel and gets distracted by a shiny object . There's always hope! I don't mind timeline. I didn't want it, but I don't mind it that much. I initially resisted, but once I got the warning they were going to flip me to timeline, I actually changed it myself before the deadline. If they're gonna change my wall to timeline, I'd rather be the one to flip the switch before they do. My little way of giving them an ever-so-polite middle finger.

That's true too, but I figure I can always change it myself afterwards--if I can figure out how to use it. . .lol!

Lucky me. I guess I will wait and see if fb really does switch me over--maybe I will get lucky and they will forget about me. . .one can hope, right? I have heard nothing but complaints about Timeline--does anyone actually like it?

Hi Suzie, i don't like timeline too. My daughter has a timeline already in her facebook but she said that she does not like it. It made the site complicated especially for me who is not so familiar with sites like this. I even seldom open my twitter account because i could not enjoy it because i don't know how to maximize its features, what more with timeline. Anyway, we could not do anything but to learn to use it so we can make use of the site as well as enjoy it. Good luck!

I too am not sure I am going to be able to figure it out--plus it is so "busy" and I find it quite hard to read. . .why couldn't they leave a good thing alone?

Yes, why can't they? Facebook is already enough for me, i can connect with my close friends, relatives and family and i am thankful already. We don't want added complications in an already complicated life.

I completely agree with you, triplejazz. Life is complicated enough as it is--facebook is supposed to make it easier, not harder!

I switched to Facebook Timeline when I got the opportunity in the past. I like the idea of the timeline and I like the way it works. I don't got any problems with it and I really like the picture which you can add on the top of your page. That was the only thing that convinced me to use facebook timeline. Maybe you can just try it and when you don't like it, you can always delete facebook and search for another social media thing. For example : Twitter etc.

Now that's a good idea--the fb app doesn't use timeline? That may be the solution for me! Thanks!

Perhaps I will come to like it, but I have viewed friends' pages who already have it, and I find it tough to navigate--it's just too busy, in my opinion. I can switch to another social network, but most of my friends use facebook (if they use anything). Of course, if enough people are unhappy, they might all switch, and then facebook will go the way of myspace....

It was a bit tricky to understand in the beginning, but after a while it is just like you used it for 100 years. Just try it and maybe you will enjoy it and if not, you can always go to myspace or use the facebook app on iphone/android?

I was really concerned about facebook timeline at first because of reports I had heard, I heard you couldnt delete things off it but yes you can so I was happier about that, I kinda prefer the old facebook but the new one is cool with the cover photos and stuff, you will get used to it :)

I hope I do get used to it, but from what I've seen on others' pages, I am sure I will not like it--it's just too busy and complicated. I'm glads you have come to like it a bit better--makes it easier for you.

I guess I will find out soon enough--I agree; people should be allowed to choose whether they want to use it or not.
15 Aug 12
Its really not as complicated as it looks, although I don't understand why there making people change it surely people should have the option.

I'm not too thrilled with this either. From what I've heard we will have no choice with the timeline, we either have to accept it or stray from facebook. I think they've gradually been switching people over at random and by that date, everyone is to be switched over to the timeline.

It seems to me that this will cause many people to stop using facebook, or to use it less often, but I guess we will see. If I had a choice I would not make the switch.

They are forcing everyone into it. I hate timeline as well but was already forced into it a few days ago. They are making everyone switch to it but I think it depends where you live how soon you will be forced to use it. Mine and everyone around me was forced onto timelime around the 7th this month.

I hate timeline and I hate the fact that we have no say in the matter . My account already have timeline and their was nothing I could do about it . Twitter is more a promotional site than a place to meet people. My account was change to timeline before my boyfriend , you cannot do anything to stop it , they will give you a notice .

oh well--I guess I'll either have to learn to use it, or stop using facebook. Twitter is not really the same so I doubt I'll switch to Twitter either. No good choices!

Don't like facebook much though I have been using it before it even became a hit in my country. I am very disappointed with it but no matter how much i wanted to delete my account I couldn't seem to do it because it's the only way my relatives could keep in touch with me. So I don't open it unless there's an important message for me or one of my friends would text me to get into it so I could see what they want me to see.

This is probably what I am going to end up doing too--it just seems like too much of a hassle to figure out the new timeline, which I really don't like, so why bother?

I hate the timeline and its hard to delete posts, if you make more than one post about the topic. Now my page has lots of posts that aren't that day, so I have to do some deleting every day to find the new posts. Many of the posts I never see, so my daughter ends up having to send me a message. Worthless timeline for me.

Oh great--something else to look forward to with this new timeline! Arrgh! Thanks for the heads up--I actually never delete posts, but now I guess I will have to start.

Suszieqmom hi i do not lioke that feature either. why not keep Facebook simple like it was before. why add so much stuff on there that you need a degree to learn all the ins and outs. JI have an account as my son has one but am not overly fond of iot except when I can contact all my mylot friends on it and a dd my two cents worth. some I do not get to see much on mylot so its good in that respect too.

Hi Hatley! I completely agree that timeline is much too complicated and facebook should be simple to use. I guess maybe the more tech-savvy people will adjust quickly but it may drive many people away. I am certainly not happy with the prospect of having to navigate timeline!

I'm the only person I know who actually likes Timeline! I think most people are worried because their friends can back to when they first got Facebook (Many Years Ago) and see all those Status updates and Photos that they posted back then. Before, The Post's just went down and vanished. Now there back and easily accessible!

Actually I didn't even know that--maybe that's why it is so much slower now?
