I heard that sunday is a rest day for the Christian people? Iam a muslim, but Iam interested in the story behind it. What are you doing on sunday as very religious people? I only know that the Christian people are going to the church or are praying at home? Can someone help me out?

50 Years ago, in the Christian faith, the stores used to be closed on Sunday. People went to church in the morning, and came home and ate dinner and were with their families. We did not work, no cleaning, no laundry no yard work. Sunday was a time for faith and family. Hospital and emergency services were open but with limited staffing.
Over the years, the stores are now open, people have jobs that have all different hours. Commericalism, the pursuit of the all mighty dollar has taken over. Many women now work outside of the home, so Sunday is the time to get caught up on cleaning, shopping, laundry, etc. Emergency services still have less staff on duty but they are busier then they were 50 years ago.

A better way to say it might be... we don't do things on Sunday that we do all the rest of the week. sunday we do less. The rest of the week, the other 6 days we do more. However, times haved changed and more and more Sunday is turning out to be just the another day like the other 6.

God rested on the 7th day after creating the world that's why we consider sunday as our rest day.

You getting down to Christian basic beliefs... Your answer is the only correct one. I thought my answer was why but your answer is the reason behind my answer.
So basic. I amazed I didn't remember that tenet of Christian faith.

I wouldn't call myself Christian, but I use Sunday as a day to relax, just because after a long weekend it's hard to unwind (and get ready for work the next day) without having a day to do so. To relax, or sometimes get things done that you can't do during the week with your work schedule. It's the way it has always been, even back when I was in school! I didn't know it was a religious thing!

The Bible simply says that God rested on the 7th day after He created all the things on Earth. And since our days of the week usually starts on Monday and end on Sunday, then it become a tradition that all Catholics should also rest on Sunday and devote themselves to the Lord. Some Christian religion though has Saturday as their day of worship or rest days.

No day is rest day in a week. I think Sunday is also a working day specially for women. Lots of work in sunday also like washing cloth, cleaning tiles, making food etc.

Though this isn't something that is really true today, there was a time that all of the stores were closed on Sunday and that meant that all people had to do was to go to church and to spend time with their families. There were very few people that would have to work on a Sunday. This isn't so much the case today, but I do think that there are a lot of families that do choose to spend Sunday as a family day in the world today.
