I stumbled on a certain discussion last night here in mylot. The member was not very happy on some vents and woes shared by other members here, seems like she's tired of reading the same problems shared in here. I felt bad reading such discussion and so I responded. I told her that there's nothing wrong when people share their problems(in whatever aspect) 'coz they might find this site as an outlet of their unheard concerns. I was thinking, how would others (who used to share their problems here) feel upon reading her post?
I can see this member contributed a lot in this site, and this made me think, is she that confident to tell people what topic is worth discussing and not?
Does reaching a certain number of comments make anyone here better than the other?
Another fact I failed to realize, this member is not as young as I have expected.
There's a tinge of guilt in me now knowing that I tried to argue the views of a granny. I didn't mean to disrespect old people (if only I knew)..am I bad?
This marks my first discussion..i'm not very good with this.tsk

I think you didn't do badly for a first try.
However, when you have been here a while (like 5 years) and some people only seem to talk about their ills (or bodily functions) it does get old.
I'd bet some folks get tired of my cat stories, but I'm not directing those discussions to cat haters, I have a lot of cat loving friends.
I also actually started a discussion because one of my friends said "I don't like science fiction" whenever I started a discussion about science fiction.
Well, ya know, I don't care if you don't like it. DON'T bother to respond if that's all you are going to say!
So, you are entitled to your opinion just as she is entitled to her opinion about ills or bodily functions and I'm sure she would take your opinion the same if you are 20 or 60.
Probably the difference is that you are new and haven't yet read a few hundred discussion yet (or thousands).
See how you feel when you have a few thousand under your belt.
Oh, and welcome to mylot!

Oh yes, I've seen you there too. I don't know, maybe I would just let go of the same old stories if i happen to meet them in the long run but won't tell anyone to stop writing them. We don't even know the reason why people keep on repeating sharing same stuffs. If we are not helping them in their woes, why lurk on their sentiments and complain?
It didn't occur to me that the number of discussions read might influence one's ATTITUDE in commenting. I've been to blogosphere and read same topics from different writers, same sentiments and problems but such didn't made me complain and say "don't you have anything else to discuss?".
Anyways, yeah, we can't please every one..we really don't have to.
Thanks for your response.

Haha well age difference definitely does make a difference with what people post on here and their values. I am open to reading anything that is written on the site. We can post discussions about pretty much anything is to me the true beauty if mylot and why I enjoy being gere so much. If someone doesnt like something that is written here they can just ignore it is the way I see it.
