There are religions who says so, simply believing in Jesus Christ as the way to salvation. Some think that it is faith plus work. God will save people who do good deeds but it should be coupled with faith on him.
My question is, is salvation can be achieved by faith alone or faith plus good deeds?

Ephesians 2:8,9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. NASB

I think its up to a persons interpretation and understanding of the Bible that gives many religions a conflict between ideas. And i think its a good one since we are given the chance to follow what we know is right. I think that by doing this, we might be able to learn more about the Bible and strengthen our faith to God.

To answer your question, I will ask a question for you to ponder. If a person has faith, but is doing bad things, i.e. murder, adultery, and theft: do you think the will be saved.
If you say no, then works and deeds are including with faith to be saved.

Hi, but just like the thief besides Jesus in the cross was promised eternal life after he accept Jesus in his life. Would that mean that no matter how bad a person is, but seeks God's forgiveness, then he will be saved? Then, in this case "work" doesn't matter anymore.

Yes faith plus good deeds definitely achieves salvation. It doesn't mean that when we prey God we get the solution for our problem, but we get enough strength to face the problem effectively. After all all by our own we have to solve the task in front of us. Good deeds show us right path and give us good rewards.

I believe that faith alone cannot save us. If you ask people if they believe, the answer will usually be yes. But isn't the answer to the question, "What have you done to the least of my brethren", the way to heaven? This is why I try to live by the principle of "you reap what you sow"...when I face my maker, I hope he says to me "you have done well my child, enter my kingdom". So yes, salvation can be achieved by faith AND good deeds.

And I think there are lot's of them. Some maybe our co-workers, friends and relatives. I hate it when I see some of them attending church every Sunday and pretend to be holy wearing their new Sunday dresses. But once they step outside, they keep on "cursing" those beggars as if they had a communicable disease. I think not all people who goes to church "walk the talk". Truly hypocrites will have no place in heaven.

Actually salvation can only done by faith.
In terms of works, should come naturally and not something that being forced!
One of the example is:
If we love the Lord, we won't sin and same thing apply to work!
What? Ok, I mean, if we love the Lord, work should come naturally!
Does this male sense!

Personally i always believe that personal faith is much stronger than faith given through religion. Each and every single person has their own unique faith and if it is strong enough then salvation is possible to achieved. To answer your question, definitely faith alone may not be enough for most people, like what people always say, action is much more important than words, in this case faith. But both come hand in hand. Without either one, faith or actions, i doubt you can get anywhere near salvation.

I think that no one can give you a correct answer, as this is a matter of pure belief, and belief has nothing to do with reason.
In my opinion, people should make good things naturally without thinking of any rewards. Otherwise it reeks of hypocrisy. Each man should by judged by his deeds, but the deeds should be honest.

Hello Fulltank
I believe that faith will keeps us strong and endure to the end. For instance, If a tall building has a strong foundation it might not fall easily in disasters. In connection with that, the building's structure or foundation is our faith, disasters referred to problems in life. I wanna share the gospel at Matthew 24:13 is says; But he that shall endure unto the end , the same shall be saved."
So let us have a strong faith.
Have a great day..

But as time go, our faith is tested though the ages. Like a foundation of a building that is tested by wind, earthquake and other calamities. And in order to keep the foundation strong, adequate building maintenance is required. Like our faith tested by temptation, we should perform "actions" not to be tempted by the other side.
Thanks for the response.
