August 17 will be a non-working holiday here in our city, for our Kadayawan Festival. Aug 18 is a Saturday, Aug 19 is Sunday... So many activities for the festival are in line, and tourists and visitors have already started to arrived. There will be a float parade on Sunday where the contingents will showcase their talents on float decorations using the flowers and fruits grown in our pride. The festival is a thanksgiving for bountiful harvest of flowers and fruits in our place.
Witnessing the festival's activities may be tiring, but enjoy for sure! Good that it will also be holiday on Aug 20, Eid'l Fit'r. A good day to rest. And we are holiday on Tuesday too! So it will really be a very long weekend for us. A long days to unwind and rest from the pressures of work. And a nice opportunity for family bonding too!

Sounds like a grand Holiday with all of the best things. Have fun and let us know how it goes. We don't have things like this around here.

Hello my friend aejey322 Ji,
I think one should make use of time if left out of enjoyment. There may be som ework where one needs tyo make the house update and make it worth presenting including cleaning, which otherwise people do not get time due to working from morning till late night.
May God bless You and have a great time

I remember those days when I was still in Davao :( Kadayawan festival is one of the biggest celebrations in Davao. I remember going out to the sun just to see movie stars. I miss those times, how I wish I can be there to celebrate with my co Davaoenos. Anyway, where are you in Davao?

Incidentally, our country, Philippines will also celebrate a long holiday next week. August 20, next Monday is a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of the Eid'l Fitr, when Muslims end their fast. I am not a Muslim but I am delighted for I also do enjoy this holiday. Then this holiday is immediately followed by Ninoy Aquino Day on August 21, Tuesday. So this means after Sunday there is still no work or school as vacation is extended for two more days. Hurray! Indeed it is a time for family bonding, outing and whatever enjoyable activities to make this long vacation really worthwhile. I hope the rain will not hinder the plans for this long weekend.

It is actually rare that we would have the opportunity to have a really long holiday weekend like the one that you've described. The next time that there is even a holiday weekend here isn't even until the first weekend in September and that is Labor Day. It is one of only a handful of holidays that my husband has off during the course of a year. It is our hope that we will be able to do a little something that weekend with the family. I'm not sure what we are wanting to do yet though.

Hello there! Indeed it's going to be a long weekend for us. Sad to say, I would be working at my dad's office at that time and will be spending my long holidays there. I hope that I would be able to do certain activities I would enjoy though, like riding my longboard on a downhill. That is if it won't rain.

It seems like we're staying on the same city and that we two are to experience the same kind of happiness and excitement for such a long vacation. This place would really be filled with wonderful flowers and visitors coming from different places. But I wanted to go home in our place co'z its a long long holiday which i could spend wonderfully in our home, with my family. The sad things is I can't go home because of the heightened alert in our place...And so I got no choice but to stay here and just enjoy the place.

Happy to hear this! l passed my college entrance examination in june,so my long holiday comes, which would be the most endless holiday for our students. At first,l founded a lot of happiness with my friends. MY mommy gave me plenty of money to relax myself, for the huge pressure i had met before. ln this circumstance,my friends and i had visited HONGKONG,san francisco, and maldives. Happiness spring in my heart at that time, but when in silence alone,in second thoughts,i now planning many tasks for my universe and i think do some thing really significant might bring more fun. August will be a meaningful month for my transition, hope u also have a impressive holiday, too~

Here in Dubai, we will be having a two day holiday that marks the end of Ramadan. The date are not yet sure, it could start on the 18th, otherwise it will be on the 19th and the 20th of this month. Though it will only for two days but we should see to it that we will make the best out of it. We are planning to go on a dhow cruise and dinner there, that would be on Day 1. On the second day, we are planning to go and watch movie with the whole family. Cheers and enjoy the holiday.

Make that a really long weekend for you, because 21 is also a holiday!!! (Although in my case, not really because I might be working on the 20th and 21st because we need to meet some deadlines.) But, still, I am happy for those who will get the break, especially the ones with families. Take time to bond with family!

Well, not surprisingly we have now entered the week of August.
The party of 15, it is dedicated to the "Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven," hence a religious holiday.
The fact that then in August, the beaches, using the tradition of telling jokes, drawing upon the buckets of water, this is another thing.
Today my father made me notice that many people think the 15th of August, as a summer party, and nothing more. The "part" religious at least those who are his friends, they are mostly do not know!

so typical in the ph. though we do not have the kadayawan in our place, we still have along vacation. well, i have work on saturdays, but three days is long enough for me.
anyway, what i hate most about holidays is that i have to go back to work after it. but, i hope this doesn't spoil anything.
enjoy your vacation. and happy fiesta!

I love those extra long weekends. It really does allow you to unwind and rest. You really feel the difference when you come back to work too, not so tired because sometiems 2 days off is not enough. Sometimes I wish working weeks were only 4 days long and weekends were 3 days

Oh lucky you! We only have August 20 as a declared holiday here in our part of the country. Oh well, at least we will have a long weekend. But I heard my siblings are going to have make up classes this Saturday due to the many days that classes were suspended due to the monsoon rains. Oh well...
