I'm blaming the bad weather for my laziness and lack of exercises! Thus, I decided to download a yoga application on my ipad. i actually discovered this application by accident while i was browsing over the applications i needed for my macbook pro. Then i saw it and it says it's available on ipad too.
So finally today I have decided to download it and hopefully we'll get to start tomorrow or the day after next. You see I need a yoga mat! There, another excuse to postpone it.
Now i just want to know if yoga can be done alone, especially by beginners like me who had never done yoga before? Is a yoga coach a must or this application is enough to teach me the basics?

Hello. I've read an article at http://fitblogr.com/yoga-for-beginners/ that there are risks in doing yoga for beginners. You have to understand it's benefits as well as the risks involve in order to avoid injuries. There are also things to watch out for before doing yoga like if you are pregnant, has a high blood pressure, spine problems and the like. I suggest you have a chat with friends first who have tried it before doing yoga alone.

Hello there! Thanks so much for this. I've read about the risks too. And as to the health problems, I'm ok with that. However, the risks involve are only to the complicated yoga positions. As to the beginners, like the sun salutations, I think I would be able to do it alone.

I think you can start doing yoga alone in your home. If the application give you the properly guidelines you can do it. I think yoga is a great exercise and you can get relaxed very well. Its benefits are many. Also you can start yoga with a book that you can find in a bookstore. There are many of them. Also on TV there are good programs to practice with. Finally I think that in your city there are workshops leaded by a coach where you could participate.

Hello Rick! I'm glad to see you here again. Anyway, the application I downloaded is enough for doing yoga alone. There are basic ones though. I won't go through the complicated ones because i read somewhere they need an instructor.

Hi. I have this app simply yoga and it works for me. I've been wanting to do some exercise on my own, i've tried cardio exercise before but it gives me muscle aches. For 3 mos now, i've been doing yoga in the afternoon. Alone. I sweat A LOT. at first i thought the positions are so easy and it won't make me sweat. I was wrong. And after yoga practice i feel so good. I feel fresh.
You can select from 20 min, 40 min or 1hr practice. At first i use the 20 min and now i am comfortable eith the 1 hr yoga.
Have fun.

I am going to a yoga class which has surely brought many positive changes in me. Going to a yoga class can make a regular habit so that after leaving that too you make a practice of doing it daily. http://www.ataia-yoga.ch/training/

I don't have time to go to yoga class and it's rare in this city. I think there's only one yoga class here and the schedule doesn't fit mine.

Why not? You can practice yoga themselves. But, you should read the instructions carefully. Do not force the movement as directed picture. Yoga's gentle, but it contains the power. I suggest you start with yoga breathing (pranayama).
Happy trying.

I've read somewhere that doing yoga alone might posts some risks. But I guess this only applies to those who are doing complicated positions. But a beginner like me won't try to risk that. Thanks.
