I still can't figure out what I want to make for supper

I was leaning more towards tortilla soup, but now I'm thinking chili. I'm not much of a chili person but that's basically because of the beans. I figure if I substitute the beans for something else, maybe just more vegetables etc then it'll be better... I want to make it "mexican" so I'll probably use salsa verde like I did before.. so much I want to cook, but I want it to be a big enough amount so that I can use it again but cheap enough so that's not the only thing I buy.. Conundrums! I may make something completely different. I've also thought of green chicken (it just sounds more gross translated into english)... Basically I'll use green salsa, which is made out of tomatillos... Meh the more I think about it, the more I want the chili, so I guess chili it is... but then again... what should I make for supper?

I guess go for the chili lol if that's what you feel like. But I'm with you on the whole beans thing. One of the reasons I don't really like chili that much is the fact that it has beans in it. Maybe instead of the beans you could add more veggies and maybe a little pasta, I think they're called rotini? I'm not sure but it's a very little pasta that works well in soups and chili. if you don't add pasta to the chili, maybe you could make rice or another type of pasta and put the chili over that. Sometimes I just like to pour the chili over my rice and add lots of hot sauce lol

I didn't end up making the chili but your ideas are really great. The beans, yeah there's just something about beans I don't like. I made stuffed peppers instead. Stuffed with cream cheese, spinach, rotel.. yummy.

I don't like beans or peas because they're too mushy lol. I've never had stuffed peppers before, I'm not sure I would like them. HOpe they were yummy!

You could make the chilli and just leave out the beans. I've seen chilli with beans and chilli no beans on cans. If you pour the chilli over rice or over corn bread, that stretches it, makes it cheaper and you can have some for another meal.

When I say chili, I mean chili that you just eat alone. Not hot dog chili as I call it here in Southern USA. I think another misunderstood me as well. I can still leave out the beans, but I never have put chili over rice, with corn bread? maybe.

We've started making chili, we use 2 pounds of turkey, then a large can of whole tomatoes - smushed up - maybe a can of V8 or maybe not, and then a can of Ranch Style beans. Since I can't handle "hot" the roomie only puts a few drops of hot sauce in it.

You sound like you are an awesome cook! When I go to make dinner (granted, I am only making it for me -- and just me!) the hardest question is usually: soup or mac n cheese? Ha ha!

I love both especially in the slow cooker. Im thinking what I caan make for supper as well, as I got off work, but not too hungry. I havent made tortilla soup in so long, but I may make some I usually throw in a vvariety of veggies. Chili I usually put less beans, or none in at all just veggies sometimes meatless.

I ended up actually with stuffed peppers but I still do want to make the soup or chii sometime. I want to get enough so that I can freeze some of it and have it in the winter months when it's cold. I plan on getting some things for the slow cooker as well. My tortilla soup is always meatless.

I usually make a big pot, and eat it until its gone especially in the colder monthss which should be coming up in September. I've never tried stuffed peppers but Im not one to eat peppers, Ive heard about using tomatoes.

You keep going back to the chili, so go for it and have the chili. I would suggest that you take time to make a weekly dinner menu plan so you don't have the struggle to make decisions. It helped me keep peace of mind on my busy days and eliminated excess spending at the grocery store not to mention cluttered cupboards.
