School will the starting up again soon and I do my best to kae it as fun as possible for my son. Half of his classes are in 7th grade, the other 8th. One of his 8th grade classes is science. One thing I decided to focus on more this year is science experiments vs just learning what is in the books. Actually, I'm hoping to primarily do experiments vs reading a chapter then doing an experiment.
Anyway, one thing we have talked about doing is an experiment with butterflies based on this NPR article http://www.npr.org/blogs/krulwich/2012/08/01/157718428/are-butterflies-two-different-animals-in-one-the-death-and-resurrection-theory
So I want to buy a butterfly kit and grow the butterfly's. However, I'm not sure how to 'view' the butterflys in the chrysalis without having to open or damage the chrysalis.
Any ideas?

You can not view the butterfly in the chrysalis any more than you can view a human baby inside its mother. Even if you could ultrasound a chrysalis it would hardly be worth it.
