I've read and re-read "The Chronicles of Prydain" by Lloyd Alexander. This 5 volume series has enough romance, adventure, magic, and wit to entertain any audience, with Welsh mlythology and its timeless presence winning admiration since its publication during the 1960s. The British TV show "Merlin" is quite popular these days, as is the American fairy tale TV show "Once Upon a Time" and the fairy tale and fantasy genre. I've watched the Twilight series, the Lord of the Rings, and the Chronicles of Narnia all go to the big screen with great success,. The Hunger Games seems to be the new big hit in the cinema, but since all these diverse series are being picked up by producers, it's high time "The Chronicles of Prydain" has its chance in the spotlight as well. Have you read this series? If so, do you think it has a chance to become big movies? Any ideas on whether the series would be better as a TV show or a group of movies?

You are right. It is a very good series. However, the question if it will become a movie of TV show also many other factors. For start It depends on the person owning the rights on it. Will he be willing to sell them? How much will he demand + how much it will cost to product this TV show / movie (a lot, the books will demand a lot of computer work) vs how much rating it will get (which is a good question, since there are already so many player in the market).

True. Walt Disney owns the movie rights to "The Chronicles of Prydain," and from what I've learned from sources, they're not selling them anytime soon. But I think the themes of the series and the quality of the stories would sell to today's audience very well. By the way, thanks for replying to my topic!

I agree that the topics are great. I really enjoyed the books. However, I'm afraid that today it is all about money, not entrainment. About replaying - no problem. I'm sorry it took me so long to find it. Feel free to open more topics or replaying to others. Mylot is a great community and you can discuss almost every topic here and hear a variety of opinions about everything.

@booksnot I would be very interested in seeing these movies made as well. Just curious, what sources are claiming Disney is not likely to sell the rights? I have been curious to determine whether they would sell so that another production company could pursue making these movies. I'm curious how much they would want for the rights if they did sell... Any insight you could provide would be appreciated.
