If I dislike anything about my life that is then migraine. Well, it is not that serious and occur quite often, yet I have got to admit that it has taken so much out of life. I do not take any specific medicine for headache and migraine. I only resort to medicine when I have a severe headache and turn in to migraine. I guess I have them mainly from stress at work, lack of sleep, spending too much time on computers and etc. What do you do to get rid of headache and migraine?

My mother got migraines for most of her life. She would become very ill, sometimes having to stay in bed for 2 days. I started getting them when I was 20. I would only get them 3-4 times a year. Some time in my late 40's I stopped having them. Because the pain was at the back of my head, right at the base of my skull, I would use a cold pack there and it helped somewhat. For me I found the only relief to be sleep. But since then I've read that 2-3 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar in an 8oz glass of water with honey works. There are other natural remedies. You can find them here: www.earthclinic.com/CURES/migraines.html Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for the very helpful link. I checked it out and found it very helpful. Well, I have headache usually once or twice a month and severe headache that usually turns in to migraine once in every 2/3 months. The pain generally occurs on my forehead and it does not go away even after taking medicines. I cannot eat anything when I have migraine because I would vomit. However, things have been better in recent years. The frequency of attack is less and I can eat if the attack is not too severe.

My mother and I also would vomit, which really makes the pain much worse. My mother would get the pain behind her eyes. She always said it felt like someone trying to pull her eyes out. Mine was a very bad, painful throbbing at the base of my skull. I'm glad you found the site helpful. It is very good for help with many different ailments. Have a happy headache free day!

You should change your lifestyle. Please try to analyze what causes your migraine to trigger. One cause of migraine is deficiency in magnesium--you should take some oatmeal, and sweet potatoes. You can regulate your sleeping cycle to prevent migraine by eating oatmeal, cherries, and sweet corn because you lack some melatonin. If you are lacking some omega 3--this reduces the intensity of your migraine by taking some flaxseed, eat salmon, and herring. You can also trigger migraine if you lack riboflavin. This reduces the severity of your migraine by drinking a glass of milk,
eat an egg,and spelt.I wish I have help you in someway to make you have something to eat to prevent your migraine because you do not want to take some medication,so these
are just alternatives.I hope you would be okay the next time we have some opinions.

I think you have a grocery store there where you can buy some oatmeal, cherries and sweet corn in there.I am from the Philippines and oatmeal is never harvested here but it can be bought in the groceries,so is the cherries. We have plenty of corn here harvested.Fresh fishes are abundant in wet markets here.I wish you could finally recover not to have that migraine again.

Thank you very much for coming up with such valuable advice. I can not eat oatmeal, cherries and sweet corn because they are not always available in my country. I am from the South Asian Sub-continent anyway. I drink milk twice everyday. I eat fish at times, egg too. I think I should eat fish quite often. Thank you for your concerns.

I also suffer from migraine every now and then. And I try to increase m,y tolerance over the pain. I do not want to get used to taking a pill every time I feel something bad. Sometimes, I would still be staying at Mylot trying to ignore the pain. But if it goes for more than 3 days, then that is the time I need to take something coz after the sever headache comes nausea.

To stay away from headache and migraine is to have the proper 8 hours sleep. If you feel tired, relax for 10 minutes. Close your eyes to rest your tired eyes. Do not always over work and have a proper diet. Good luck and good health.

Thanks for the advice. I have got to admit that I have headache when I do not get proper and right amount of sleep, which is 8 hours a day. I do not often give my eyes proper rest while I am working on the Internet. I should be giving more heed to these areas.

I'm so sorry about your illness. I am working in a healthcare field. I suggest you see a doctor. Migraine and headache is different. I have a migraine and usually what triggers mine are stressful work, overexposure to sunlight, eating chocolates, and drinking coffee. My mother is also experiencing headache. She always tell me that she has a migraine but the doctor confirmed that what she has is tension headache. You should undergo consultation. Have it treated before it worsen. I hope everything's fine with you now.

I am a doctor suffering from migraines. In my case they are bound mostly to irregular sleep patterns. E.g. sleeping too little for a few days, than too much and again too little. If I sleep say 6 hours a day constantly im fine. If I sleep 9 hours a day constantly im okay. But if I oscilate between the two it usually causes a migraine. There are several migraine types. Some are caused by the dilatation of temporal arteries. This causes superficial pulsating pain on the sides of the head, which can be relieved by pressure to the dilated arteries just under the skin on the sides of the head. These headaches can be treated by ligation in some patients, which provides long term relief. The ligation has no effect on the vitality of superficial tissues. Other types are bound to profound pain and cannot be treated so easily. However medications can be useful. Ibalgin like medications to treat the pain, spasmoanalgetics and spasmolytics to aleviate stomach problems (pylorostenosis in my case), nasal decongestants (also my case...) and special treatment to ease the severity of the attack and decrease the number of attacks. All in all this is a mostly treatable condition, however before you accept your ordeal make sure tests are performed to rule out other possible causes. Hope you find a combination of therapeutics that works for you, but remember its always best to avoid the triggers.

I've got the same problem. So much stress causes migraine, though with so much work, having heavy loads, we could not get away with stress so migraine keeps on coming. Also some food intake causes migraine, among them is chocolates. To much intake of chocolates could also trigger migraine.
When my migraine attacks, I could no longer do anything all I wanted to do is to lay down and wait until it is gone. I also take pain relievers and no other medicine.
All I need to do is to take a rest even in a little while and eat a lot of fruits.

well until now the exact mechanism of migraine is unclear therefore we have to prevent as much as possible.migraine will occur if we have a lot stress like lack of sleep, depression, etc and can occur with food also like chocholate, cheese, soda, etc
