Can continuously laughing kill?

I have this good friend who has really great sense of humor. He likes to write everything in short forms so sense of humor is SOH, come to chat is CTC, most of those things are hard to decipher anyway, so why he bothers writing like that, I dont know. Anyway, what I wanted to say was, sometimes, when he is in mood, he can make us laugh till our bellies ache, and I am truly out of breath at such times. And he doesnt stop..he likes to see us all struggling like that..moving away from the room laughing..and even when we have somewhat recovered our breath ..he can be back at it and absolutely without a single expression on his face..continue to joke. I know it would be a great way to die, but can that really kill? lol

Who said so ,i dont think so because as astrologers and doctors have proved the scientific fact that only laughing can cure cancer and many other disease for sure.so its ideal and good for health but i would suggest you to follow within the limits

hi vandy I just have to t ell about this one Indian user who replied to my saying I was eating a hot dog while mylotting. He said"oh madam not dog do not eat dog, you nice lady tell me you are not eating dog meat?" I ALMOST choced then told him, "relax its just a beef wiener and the term hot dog does not have anything to do with real dogs. I love dogs and we do not eat them, we have them as pets."he replied "oh msHatley I am so glad as I knew you were too good a lady to do that." so I began to wonder at how many of our sort of silly idioms are misunderstood by people from other countries and maybe we should clue mylotters into what our idioms really mean. lol lol

Hi Vandana! I feel 'excess of everything is bad' so this dictum may also apply to continous laughing, so be careful while laughing excessively. I love to laugh on the slightest pretext. In my school days - one day I was asked to stand on the bench (as punishment) because the teacher caught me laughing continously, while she was teaching a serious subject. And she got more furious when I kept on laughing even after standing on the bench........ Lol! More recently in office, while discussing a subject with a colleague, I was sipping water and he unexpectedly said something silly, which triggered the laughter. I was in the midst of drinking water, when he said the silly thing and I just could not control my laughter, the water entered into my wind pipe and I was strandard breathless and just could not breath and it could have been serious for me. But Thank God nothing serious happened as to save myself I had to vomit all water which was in my mouth and somehow I controlled myself. Now please don't laugh reading all this, else it could be dangerous.

I've no idea but I also have a friend who likes to do this thing. I said stop, but he just continued with his joke. I like it, though. Reading by the responses here that it can get us killed... wow, scary. Should i get away from him, now?

Well, I wouldn't mind dying of laughter. Better that than disease, accident, killer litter and whatnots right? I live to laugh, I laugh to live, Laughing while I live, Leaves me dying to laugh (composed by the Honourable bluemoonpavilion)

I agree with you..if I die I want to be laughing at that point of time.. Not crying of pain or what nots. :) But the person who makes me laugh so much would be shocked and never again cut a joke. Right? Your composition is great.

"Killing me softly with his joke..." - I would think that is a nicer way to bid farewell to the world than at least 200 other ways. But unhappily,(or happily?)it does not work all the time. Maybe it is better that way as laughter is supposed to heal rather than to kill but I admit that sometimes to kill is also a way to heal. You are lucky to have a friend like that.

Well, I suppose if someone with a bad heart or a brain aneurism was laughing so hard that they couldn't get good breath, and their blood pressure spiked it might kill them, but I suspect all it would do to a healthy person is give them a short but maybe vicious headache.

Yeah..I told him several times I come from a family that has a history of heart related health problems. He once said fine, you write two things, one I ain't responsible for your unexpected demise, your ancestors are, and then write all your properties to me. lol He is much younger so I cant even yell at him. But he is insane ..at times.

hio vandy I su ppose the excess of any physical action taken to extremes could kill but I would think this person whom it killed might have already had a lot of health problems and otherwise healthy people would just be out of breath a bit. I do think that is sort of far fetched and would be one in a zillion or something like that.sure hope so.

Hi Hatley, I agree. But when I was laughing I felt my lung would simply not take in any oxygen its capacity was highly reduced..and had to leave the room to catch my breath. It is like that so often with this person. :)

I don't know whether such long laughing will kill or not but I can say you have a good friend like that. It is long time I have been like that. Only in college days it happened with our friends when discussing or commenting some funny things. It may not bring you the least smile if I narrate it again but the presence there only makes it happen. It is all on the people who starts it....they have some magic in the delivery of wits!

Hello my friend vandana7 Ji, Well, I think alraedy you have formed an idea about your friend taht he is insane. I am the opinion that whatever one can not understand, OR it is beyoung his/her knowledge of understanding throws into dust-bin, including its master. Try and understand , you too can eljoy. I would call such persons genious and they are totally harmless for society. May God bless You and have a great time

I believe that I've heard that anything that is done in excess can kill us. However, I really don't know if that would be something that would be the case in terms of laughing. I would think that there might come a point that we would pass out because we were not taking in enough oxygen, but the passing out would simply be the bodies way of moderating itself so that there would be no lasting harm unto the body. It would be a funny way to die though.

I think so that laughing continuously can kill us.(^^) But that must be a seriously extreme kind of laugh that can cause fatal.(^^) Don't forget to take a breath every time you feel like you will laugh non stop.(^^)

Hello friends,Well as we know laughter is the best medicine. It really relaxes our mind & body.It refresh us,but continuous laugh can be fatal at time as there is a possibility of breathlessness which is a rare case anyway. But please remember laughter is the best medicine again. Thanks & regards.....

I just mind end up there.. Yesterday this friend of mine, do you know what he said.. There are three rings that ruin a man's life, The first is engagement ring, which empties pockets, in outings, The second is wedding ring, which empties bank balances, not to mention creates sleeplessness and tension at home (mother in law and daughter in law) and third one is Suffer ring ..ring master is always the lady..even though she should be mistress because she does not like the word mistress..she thinks mistress means you know..somebody like pillow friend. So what is wrong with a pillow friend - nothing except it is not the size of mattress friend..lol I could go on with what he was talking..and he can talk like that continuously..pain in my a$$ ..lol But lovable creature..
