Praying to God is very important for our spiritual life. It may be the most important thing when it comes to getting closer to God and getting his guidance and help for our lives. I want to ask, do you have a favorite prayer that you always or often pray? What is that prayer and why is it your favorite? Does it have special effects on you or you find your prayers answered more quickly when you pray them?

Hi Better I am not sure what a favorite prayer is...I just
pray to God for blessings with family, friends, and then
world peace..
When I pray its from the heart and I sometimes get in the
zone and just pray...so I guess to answer your question
is no I don't have a favorite prayer, I just pray....

Hi bjc66bjc and stowyk, yes I think prayer comes from our hearts and that would be the best prayer of all. I guess I was thinking about some composed prayers by saints and holy people, like for example the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi: "Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring you love. Where there is injury your pardon Lord. And where there is doubt true faith in you. O Master grant that I may never seek, so much to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand. To be loved as to love with all my soul. For it is in giving that we receive and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life." This was one prayer I was fond of when I was young. There are many other composed prayers like the "Our Father" which is composed by Jesus himself.

My favorite prayer is not a prayer for myself. It is the Prayer of St. Francis for Animals. I love all animals and am very sensitive to the plight of many. So I pray every day for their safety and health. My second favorite prayer is for myself. (I really need it!)

Yes, I believe it's also important to be kind to animals because God has given us these animals to take care of and to love. Well, love of self is natural so we also need to pray for our own needs :)

I actually do not have a prayer in particular. I pray like i am talking to God..like a friend, i thank Him for everything, say sorry for the wrong i have done and i ask and tell him what is in my heart..thats who i pray.

Yes, it's amazing that God allows us mere creatures to have that kind of relationship with him...like talking to a friend or a loving father, and the great thing about it is that he is really concerned with every single details of our lives..."the numbers in your hair are all numbered..."

I also think gratitude to God is such a strong prayer and one that God considers to be an important characteristic of a religious person. I remember in the Bible when Jesus healed several blind men and only one of them came back to give thanks, Jesus asked "where are the others who got healed?" It's as if Jesus praise the one blind man who has gratitude and had the effort to come back and give the healer his deserved "thanks". I think God honors the grateful heart. It is sometimes easier said than done because we sometimes see ourselves complaining often about the difficulties of our lives. It is then important to remember to give more time giving thanks and looking for God's goodness everywhere...even in difficult moments.

You are correct, praying is like talking to God to become closer to him. When we pray. it's not mean that we are always praying of something to have or something we want to happen in our life, it's a part but the main thing is talking to God as He is our FAther, like talking to Him to report, we can also say a story, tell Him what's happen to you etc. That's how the prayer goes, reporting to Him and ask for soemething and also ask for forgiveness.

Part of being human is admitting our sinfulness before God, and he is more than willing to forgive us. Talking to God like a son to a father is always touching and I felt he will always be that loving father, although life doesn't spare us of suffering and pain and it is due to our original sin. Anyway, it's great that God's mercy is so great that no sin could not be forgiven by him.

i do not particularly have favorite prayer because for me prayer is like son talking to his Father so i do not need to have favorite quote or something.i will let my heart take over what i want to say for my Father in other words just let it flow.i really sure everything that we had talked with our Father will be heard but just our time is not our Father time so we have to be patient for our prayer to be answered at the right time.God Bless

Yes, I remember the song "In his time, he makes all things beautiful in his time..." It is really his will that is going to be followed so it becomes important for us to surrender to his will with love.
What a nice figure...God as our father, I think it's amazing that creatures like us have God as our father.

I do have my most favorite prayer. Every year on my birthday, right at 00.00 a.m. I always ask God to make me a better person, to make me wiser in my words, my thoughts, my deeds. Slowly but sure, it has an effect in my life.
For my daily prayer, my favorite one is that I will get married soon.

Being wiser...just like the prayer of King Solomon. Yes, they said it's a better prayer than asking for all the riches of the world.
For your last prayer, I do hope too that your prayers of getting married happens to you soon :)
