This time the baseball and softball are not available in the Olympic Games. I heard that in the future Ping Pong and badminton will also be unavailable in the Olympics Games. Is that true? Although I am not interested in Ping Pong but I like badminton. I will be disappointed that I can't watch the badminton in the Olympics. What do you think?

I looked it up. There appears to be no talk of getting rid of badminton. As for table tennis...Softball was eliminated basically because the USA dominated it. And since China has dominated table tennis, there is a fear they will do the same to table tennis because of what America did with softball. But so far, there has been no action taken to get rid of it.

I think that golf and cricket are supposed to be Olympic sports in Rio. Sounds quite boring to me, I don't watch either badminton or ping pong but if I had to chose I'd rather watch one of them than cricket or golf.
I think they should re-introduce tug of war. Not so sure about live pigeon shooting but long jump for horses should definitly be in. Possibly solo synchronized swimming as it is the one of the weirdest things I've seen :-)
Apparantly some want to introduce pole dancing. Not sure if it was meant seriously or as a joke. I'm sure you'd have to be pretty fit to do it, but still not sure how they could pull that off and still be taken seriously.

I am not sure that I have heard about these two games being removed from Olympics. Every Olympics there are one or two games which are introduced and if the response is not good then they are dropped in future. For e.g. this year Women's Boxing was introduced for the first time. Looking at the response, I am pretty sure that this will be retained for next Olympics. Similarly, Table Tennis and Badminton have been around for a few Olympics now and I am pretty sure that they would not be removed.
Cheers!

It is disappointing to hear that both ping pong and badminton will be future Olympic events. I enjoy both playing and watching these sports. Having them in the Olympics was fun and enjoyablr. I will miss seeing them in future Olympics. Perhaps opinions will change and they will remain after all.

I heard that had rumors that maybe table tennis would not be in London Olympics, but they changed their mind about it. Don't know if have this possibility again for Brazil's Olympics. I searched in the internet and didn't find anything about it, where did you see this? I hope that these two sports continues in the Olympics games, even though I don't like to watch badminton, I still think table tennis very interesting and I think they are sports that attract a good crowd, not like baseball or softball.

It sucks the Olypmics does not have baseball and softball anymore! I think that was not a good idea! Where I live I have never seen table tennis or badminton played. so if those sports are not available in the future, it would not bother me. I heard golf is being added in the next summer games! I think that is weird idea! I am wondering how the heck they'll determine the gold, silver and bronze winners? We will see!

Never heard of that news and I don't think it is true sis. These two are among the popular games in Olympic so why they will say no to this two games? There are certain conditions for a sport to be available play in Olympic. I am not sure why the two are not available in 2012 Olympic. Is it because it too American? Means no other country can beat US in Olympic and won the gold medal??
