For a long time I was not aware of my rights as a tenant here in Ontario Canada. I did not realize that even if you are told "no pets" or sign something that says "no pets" on the agreement, you cannot legally be evicted from your place unless there is a good reason for doing so ( example is the pet is dangerous to others). Have you ever brought a pet into your place even though you maybe weren't supposed to? Are you aware of your rights to have a pet as a tenant in your area? Thanks for posting.

I wouldn't think that is the way it is at all. Signing a lease to a rental property is a contract - If the contract signed states no pets one should assume that your breaking the agreement if you do not follow the rules etc.

We lived in places where we told them we had pets and then they forgot to charge us the fee, so we would "hide" our cats if management ever came around. Honestly with hundreds of tenants there is no way they'd could ever keep track of who did/didn't have pets on their lease.

Haha yep. When I was looking at places the rental agency said that everyone does it and to always put no pets on the form to get the place but you can then bring them in. We would hide the cat and all evidence of cat when they came for inspections
