Their main problem for last season is their midfield area. However, with Cleverly back and Fletcher making his first appearance after his illness, their problem in the midfield is not as chronic. Of course, they need some fresh faces there as the devils can't depend on Giggs or Scholes to carry them through the season. For £22m, they could have gone for M'Vila, a midfield enforcer which they are missing. If not, how about Xabi Alonso, since it is reported that the player is unhappy at Real Madrid. But give his Anfield background, I am not sure if the Utd fans will warm up to that idea.

I guess I'm a little late responding to this discussion but discussing RVP's purchase still makes sense. I'm sure there's no doubt in anyone's mind that RVP's been a success at Old Trafford and hopefully will continue to be. If we do have to stay strong for next season as well, I guess someone like Strootman or Wanyama would be a grat buy and they both would come for less than 20 million.

I think the buying of RVP seems to be justified looking at the fact that most goals this season have come through RVP. If RVP's goals are removed then United will fall to 6th position instead of the top position they currently find themselves in. I think RVP might again win the Golden Boot this season.
Cheers!

If you think about it further requires the Manchester United midfielder nice. But the purchase of Robin Van Persie does not hurt as Robin Van Persie could be a tandem for Wayne Rooney and Welbeck can guide and Chicarito. Indeed, Manchester United forward stock lot. But do not worry Manchester United's midfield has now started after the entry of Shinji Kagawa varied and increasingly maturing Tom Cleverly. So we'll see how Robin Van Persie purchases I do not think it will be worth it.
