Three to four years from now, I guess our son needs to be circumcised. My husband and I are having discussions about it. Who should accompany him during that day? Should I go with my son or my husband? What do you think?

what is the problem? i mean you can both go if you can, but if it is only you available you can also go with him.. he is your son. I do not see why you cannot.

Oh, yeah. You are right. It's better if both of us will go. However, in our area, most fathers accompany their sons. However, my husband told me that I should go. LOL. I guess he's nervous. I also feel the same way. I grew up with my four sisters. We have a brother but he didn't grow up with us. We'll just cross the bridge when we get there. LOL. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

I think you need to ask your son first about it if he will want you or your husband to accompany him. But most of the time many teenager or young man more comfortable with their dad in this circumcision matters because they can ask everything without awkward feelings to their father since they have same gender and the father also can relate about to this matter. Also the most important as a mother better to show your support and love to him most of the time and during his circumcision day.

Yes, I guess he's still young for that. I guess we'll just start opening this topic when he's already 11 turning 12. Maybe by that time, he'll be ready and brave enough to face this circumcision thing. What matters is we are there to support him.

How old is your son? If he is young, he will probably want you there over his Dad. Since you have waited (or will wait) for so long, why not wait until he is a lot older then he can decide to have the procedure or not. That has to be extremely scary for a young child to go through and its painful. If you wanted it done, why not when he was born?

He's still 8 so he can have it when he's already 11 or 12 like most of the boys here in our country. I guess in other countries they prefer having it when the baby was born. I guess it's better if the two of us will accompany our child to support him.

Usually it is the father that usually accompany their sons going to circumcision. But I guess there is nothing wrong if the mom goes along with them. I remember when I got it my father accompanied me through the operating room so that I would not get nervous and tensed and when we got to go home my mother was there to support me. When at home I think it was usually my mother who took care until I was back to normal.

Yes, it's better if the fathers will accompany their sons. They can share their own stories so that their sons will feel comfortable. Moms will just do the rest after the operation.

i think there is no problem about who will go with your son, but for me it will be better if the father will go with him since he's the one that undergone the same procedure before.

Yes, I agree with you. It's better if my husband will go with him. Anyway, this will only happen once. I guess this is one of the memorable memories of my son's childhood.

You should do it when he's old enough to make the choice for himself. Also remind him that it's a pointless procedure that has no medical benefits. Make sure he knows that there are many reasons why he should keep the foreskin and that once it's cut off, it won't be glued back on.
