How long is too long to wait for a prize?

My friend and I were talking earlier today about giveaways we have won and how long it too to receive the prize. The average time seems to be about a month. Now, to me that seems awfully long. These companies know they are sponsoring a giveaway, usually the prize is a set item, and I know some companies set the terms of when the giveaway happens as well. If I owned a company that was sponsoring a giveaway to entice new buyers, I would get my product out as quickly as possible. I wouldn't want a paying customer to wait so long, so why would I want a potential buyer to wait?
What do you think? IIs a month acceptable, or should companies send out prizes earlier?

If a company is going to do a giveaway, then they should really make the effort to send the prize out pretty quickly. You don't want to wait to send it too long after the giveaway has ended and the winner has won. I think that it's too long to wait for a prize when you completely forgot about winning the prize in the first place and all of a sudden you're surprised when you get the surprise in the mail lol

I love to get surprises, but I want what I win too lol I won a giveaway around the middle of July and just received the prize today. I only enter giveaways I really want so I have been watching for it. I was giving the sponsor another week before I contacted the blog I won through

Jeeze that seems like such a long time to get the prize. I remember one time I sent in for one of those things on the cereal boxes when I was younger. It was for a Bug's Life flashlight that had different covers to put over the light and it would shine as one of the characters from the movie. I think it literally took months for me to receive it and when I got it I was a little disappointed because the flashlight was much smaller than what the cereal box made it seem.

Lol yeah those cereal send offs always seem to take weeks and weeks to get. I guess I'm spoiled. I normally buy online through Amazon using my Prime account so I get my items within 2 days of ordering. The only other online retailer I deal with on a regular basis is Barnes and Noble and they do the fast shipping for members too,
