I have a lot of questions in mind. Few years from now, our son will be a teenager already. What if he's going to ask us, his parents, about the act of making babies? How should we answer him? He's our first and only child so far. I guess educating him is quite difficult and awkward. Any advise from you co-parents? Happy myLotting!

When i was a child i asked my mom about having babies and she gave me a book for teenagers about making babies. I read it and understood everything even they were not the whole information! Anyway i find it the best way to explain teenagers about making babies. You just give him a book for teenagers and he is going to find the answers on his questions! It's educated and easy to do!!

Well I am into that situation right now since their science class is discussing about the reproductive system. We just discuss about it like we are discussing normally. We also try to know what the curriculum allows at the moment so we do not teach them something beyond and they do not need to know yet. It was awkward at first but if you let it know to them that it is not in the first place they would be more open with you and you will be more relax in telling them all about the bees and the butterflies.

Yes, we have to tell them everything they need to know. Lying isn't good or telling some name substitutes and the like. Yes, he's already studying. I'll just wait for the day when he comes to me asking about it. I'll just answer all his questions so that he'll not be ignorant about it. I'll just have to watch for my words. It should be educational. I hate Science. Can I just teach him Math and English? LOL. Happy mylotting.

It is more important now that they learn of it early on and not always asking ahy it is forbidden to ba talked about. I think the simple things like what are those parts and what are they used for may be just what they need to know at the time and we do not need to go further and maybe as they age they will eventually know that. What is important is that they know what are those and their function.

Hello angel. I don't know how old your son is but you better be prepared to start answering question at about the age of at least three. They will see a lady with a large stomach and ay something about it. Or a friend will be pregnant or he will see something on TV. There are so many ways that your son will be introduced to se* It's best to be prepared with those answers when he starts asking. I like Dr Laura Schlessinger's advice. Start teaching them young and answering their questions age appropriate. Don't wait until he is a teenager as he will pick up school yard myths.

By the age of 6, your kid will likely already know the answer to that--regardless of what you say. He may not get all of the mechanical details correct, but he will likely get the big picture.
Do yourself and your child a favor. Get over your weirdness about talking about things. Children should have honest, accurate information from an early age. They should know the correct names for their body parts. They should also be taught that they are the ones who control their bodies--that no one has the right to pressure them into anything.

Oh yes, I'll do that. I'd be honest with him. He's not getting any younger. Parents are their first teachers so we have no choice but to educate them. Happy mylotting.

I think developing an open communication with your child may help minimize the awkwardness of those topics. If at a young age parents be able to establish that communication, our kids will open up to us and seek our advise rather than obliging us to preach on them, which they may take defensively.

Oh, yes. I need to be more open to him too. I want to establish good communication with my child. So that in the future, he will tell me every thing that's bothering his mind. Happy mylotting.

I really do not know how I could ever be prepared to tell him about the birds and the beasts but I guess the help of a biology book would come in handy.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I guess books are handy in times like this. We won't worry about what words to use. Books are descriptive and educational. Happy mylotting.

I think you'll know what you say when the right time comes. But first, did you ever ask your parents where babies came from? I never did, and I don't think kids do ask. Well, if they start asking, then you could always do the good old white lies.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!
