Scooter almost hit me

Philippines
August 16, 2012 9:26am CST
Hello there, I was on my way home coming from my brothers house because he needed the cage for his new puppy. damn it was hard since it was a big I had to commute. just looked both sides of the ride, and it was clear I decided to cross, as I nearing the Public Jeepney transport, as scooter went out of nowhere in front between me and the Jeep. I didn't react or say bad words but WHAT AN IDIOT BIKER! what if my hands or legs were raised while walking. i talked to a mylotter about and said that's why she's irradiated with these drivers because it's their fault, didn't realize that now how some youth can be irresponsible for using the bike. this is why am afraid to go out sometimes. next time i think I'll the other route or the over pass instead..

hello LK, I am annoyed with most of them. I don't know what they're too irresponsible and feels like they are the king of the road. I understand motorbike is very useful- but please they're not the only one using the road. I am also waiting for the approval of "no tandem" policy with bikers...hmpff. Sorry guys but crimes involving motorists increases everyday..

Yeah I guess you need to be careful in crossing roads these days. There are indeed a lot of irresponsible drivers around that could hurt anyone crossing roads. That is why at times where there is a bridge to cross I take advantage of despite it is pretty inconvenient to still go up and down just to cross the street to be safe.

But of course these overpass are rare especially if you are not with major roads in the metropolis and many times they are located quite far from where you wanted to cross. But I think it is less risky if you have to walk a bit far from where you wanted to cross.

Hello Rsa101, yeah i should and probably look a bit more often because i used to do that.next time also i will do my best to cross the over pass isntead, i can't play tag with the harrassing fast moving vehicle. it seems that having traffic is a lucky time for me to cross the road and avoid getting hit

motorized bicyclists have to drive more defensively then those in cars but still they have to be responsible for what they do as well. It sounds as if it's getting a little out of hand where you are and they need to lay down more laws. As this way they are endangering not only themselves but pedestrians as well.

Hello Somecowgirl, unfortunately if there aren't enough traffic enforcers in the country, then it would be hard for laws to be implemented. that's because there aren't that much here, they are on that road and then the next day they are gone to other roads and then it happens again. now, am being more careful than before, hard to believe that it happened to me

Myself I hate when these things happen, but on hte other hand it's a great reminder that traffic is always dangerous and things happen so quickly if we look away for even a second, Splat! We're history.

Careful my friend, lots of reckless drivers out there in our country, I don't know if they are reckless or just plain stupid cause all the laws are already laid out, maybe we should have an anti stupidity law cause I see it happening everyday.

Hello louievill, I've always crossed that road and never in my life i would encounter something like. I've always look on the opposite sides of the road before i cross. i hope next time he does that he would be arrested for sure.he never should have risked it, I bet he was trying to impress his girl or something

Good thing you're okay. There are really irresponsible people out there. Next time, be extra careful. You cannot trust people on the road.

Sometimes accidents are just too near, isn't it? I'm just glad that you're okay and there's no problems. I think the government's trial motorcycle lane is a good idea. I think it should be implemented all around the country to avoid these accidents. Have a great and safe MyLot experience ahead!

I have heard that traffic can really get bad in the Philippines with the scooters and jeepneys and all,not that we do not have bad traffic here in Southern California too,. the mylotterr was irradiated hey you must mean irritated as irradiated would mean she had been hit with 'irradiation, never mind I do typos too so do not mind me,lol

Just shows that not everybody is fit to be a driver and let loose on the road. I think that most jeepney drivers and people driving motorbikes are one hazard in the road. They might be hazardous but they also have their good moments. And to think, they have to hold a professional license to drive. TSk Tsk.

Yeah, with a lot of motorcycles even out there, accidents are really rampant. I do believe that motorcycles or scooters at such point is quite dangerous. The mentality of drivers of these vehicles is to be able to get to where there are going fast. They will squeeze themselves whenever they see any space even if the space provided is quite dangerous. Also, they don't think of brakes but rather they try to dodge if they are to hit something. This such mentality is quite dangerous as well. To be honest, I am really nervous whenever I see a lot of motorcycles on high ways. Not to mention that motorcycles are used by a lot of syndicates out there in their evil operations.

Hello AgentGulaman, some drivers just do what it takes to get to their destination.unfortunately the reason why they don't want to go to the bike lane is because vehicle cars / trucks, etc were also using their lane when there's traffic on the other road lanes. maybe it's a bad idea to sell motorcycles in the country

Yeah people should be more careful on those things! A lady down the street from us got hit by a car while she was on her scooter. Thank God she did not get hurt, just sore. Then last night a friend of ours was riding his bike and a mini van hit him and then they left the scene! He had his dog on the bike with him in a cage. Again thank God they were not hurt. People are just not careful these days...

And that's why incidences like the assault of a MMDA officer happened, because of drivers acting like they own the streets just because they are driving their own "ride". Good thing you were able to react in a split right as soon as that scooter appeared. It would be very inconvenient if you were jostled a bit, even. Did the driver even stop to see or check how did you fare? Did he even care a bit? More so, did he even have a license already to drive?

Hello Raine38, yeah parking on places that they don't really belong to.I've seen that in some other places out there too, even here. i think they will removed both his license to drive and carry fire arms.
