Have you ever had 'recurring dreams?"

Recurring dreams are dreams that you are often dreaming in such similar ways. I used to have recurring dream of being in our old house where it seems a bit haunted and I would dream of being chased by some unseen spirits out of that house, and when I get out of the house I would always try to fly away as far as I can by jumping...then I find myself flying. This has happened a lot of times in the past but not anymore. I think recurring dreams usually have strong emotions involved, and that is the reason why they keep on recurring. In the old house that we used to live, I had several experiences there where I felt fear because of some areas where I felt some presence of unknown spirits so that is probably why I used to keep on dreaming of the same scenes...running down the stairs trying to escape some spirit and running out of the house to fly away. Anyway, I like this part which is flying in my dreams...lol.
Can you share some of your recurring dreams?

what you have just mentioned is like a mirror of my own "recurring dream". i had one when i was about 5, back in my grandfather's old house. i had the recurring dream for 13 years. it didn't happen every night, but often enough to become quite vivid even when i was awake. i tried to understand over the years. but suddenly it stopped. maybe i had come to understand something... or maybe i learned to channel my unconscious thoughts to something else... i'm not entirely sure.
i don't wanna creep you out... but when i was 5 years old taking a nap/siesta one afternoon, i felt something cold encircling my ankle and pulled me where i was sleeping from the floorboards of the 2nd floor of the old house. whatever it was, it pulled me across the room. i wanted to wake up because i knew i was gonna fall down the stairs. but i couldn't. luckily, one of my feet landed in between the balusters so i didn't fall. then that woke me up.
i had a recurring dream after that. something that was almost like yours. the endless chase, the 3 white ladies, the flying, being all alone in the midst of it all etc.
i'm just glad that had stopped.

dreams can have several interpretations... depending on which angle we would like to see.
some people say i might have a partially-opened third eye or something close to it. some people say that maybe when i was a kid, i was told scary stories as a way to discipline a child. some thought i had a traumatic experience as a child and it manifested in a recurring dream. some people even said that i display strong empathy. and i even went to such lengths as that of doing simple calculations as to when i was conceived and what events transpired when i did.
maybe all of them held some form of truths.

That was really eerie, mylesnarvaez. It's good you don't dream them anymore. Anyway, usually dreams have their interpretations so do you have your interpretation why you have this kind of recurring dreams. Did you have some fears in that house or whatever?

Hi friend, i don't have any recurring dreams, in fact i don't get dreams frequently. My dreams are very rare, good to know about your recurring dreams, some persons told that dreams have some meaning, do you believe it?

Yes, I do believe dreams have their meanings and therefore will have their interpretations that would be given best by the dreamer himself, because he owns the feelings and emotions tied to those dreams. I think it is one way of knowing which areas in our lives that we needed to be resolved, like what fears do we need to conquer as one possible example.

Yes I have had several recurring dreams. The most prominent I've talked about on here before. It's where myself and either my brother and sister (as it did vary) would be lost in what we thought was my grandparent's neighborhood... But we kept finding a house that looked so similar (basically floor plan was different) but wasn't the house we were looking for.
In the dream my parents were out at a craft store and me and either my brother or sister (as I said it varied) would be walking through the neighborhood trying to find my grandparents or even my parents again.

Isn't it true that dreams especially recurring dreams usually have some meaning? SomeCowgirl, do you have an interpretation about this recurring dream that you have just described? Always, it would be the dreamer who would be able to interpret his or her own dream because they are reflections of one's emotions, experiences and thinking.
For example, with my recurring dream of our old house where I try to escape some spirits/ghosts by leaving the house and flying away, my interpretation here is that in our old house I often felt some spirits that gives me some scary feelings, so my dreams are reflections of my deep seated fears I had in living in that old house, and trying to fly away would simply mean my desire to escape that fear.

I used to have a series of these...
One where I was walking through a house that was something like an M.C. Escher artwork... and I'd have to struggle not to fall through the checkerboard floor.. lol! Another involved a series of homes where I had once lived and a series of homes that had belonged to relatives.. I would be chased by people that I could not see... throughout the buildings and up all of these flights of stairs until I reached the attic of a particular house. There was nowhere to really hide in the attic, but a vampire would always be there waiting for me and he would hide me from the people that were chasing me.
I also had another one about the little aliens from the movie "Critters" taking over the very very tiny town that I had once lived in.. lol
And the last recurring dream that I had was about a friend of my mothers... We would always be in a tiny apartment that my father lived in after my parents divorced... and I would hear a gunshot and her friend would leap into the air to try to keep me from being hit by the bullet coming through the window and he would be hit instead - Id always wake up at that point.

Oh my, I think all of your recurring dreams gives you some negative feelings after waking up. Could it be the cause of the movies that you usually watch like Critters or maybe you also watch Twilight.
Anyway, sorry to hear about your parent's divorce. I hope most or all of these recurring dreams have already stopped.

I don't recall ever having a recurring dream. My dreams all seem to be different each time.I think that if I had a recuuring dream, it would disturb me so much that I would not dream again.

Well, I would only guess that if there are recurring dreams that are negative in nature, therefore there should be recurring dreams with a positive nature as well ( although I can't think of any recurring dreams of mine that are positive ). Some may have recurring dreams about winning the lottery, or enjoying certain activities and waking up feeling good. Come to think about it, I did have recurring dreams before of collecting coins everywhere in the ground and they never seem to run out and usually I wake up feeling great but at the same time feeling regrets that it was only a dream.

I'm sure I had some recurring dreams, but, right now, I can't even remembere which one. I just remember the feeling I had when I wake up thinking about why I dreamt about the same thing again. Sometimes, its not all the same. There would be a little change on some scenes or faces, but the storyline or plot, is sort of similar.
Your dream in particular is a but eerie. Didn't you get bothered by that?

Yes, when I was having those recurring dreams in the past I always wake up with an uncomfortable feeling. I'm glad though that I haven't dreamed that same dream for many years already which may mean that I have already resolved my inner fears :)

I also had recurring dreams of our old house as well. In the dream, I see specific parts of the house and where things are placed in it's original position. I often see myself walking towards the room, walking down the stairs, sitting in one of the chairs in the dining room. Even the comfort room and everything in it is very clear in the dream. I guess it keeps on coming back because we experienced a lot in this house as a family. In our ups and downs, we managed to stick with each other and everything's pretty much the same though we live far away from that house now.

Hahaha this is funny, I used to have the same "flying part" as yours. I also have recurring dreams, wherein I am a strong vampire but I don't suck blood x3 (ewwwwie. Haha cuz I used to watch vampire movies and series, I guess that's why). I love it when I need to protect my friends from bad guys in my dreams :D
And everytime I dreamt the same dreams, I always think "I had this same dream before" inside my dreams. And looking forward to the continuation of my dream :D
Isn't that kinda weird? Cuz I talk inside my dream and I know that I already dreamed of it.
