Again as per facebook..
Young girls are being approached by very young kids who come to them crying, and ask them to take them to a specific address. When the girl decides to help the child - the mission is accomplished.
So the writer suggested..dont help strangers..instead take them to police station. That way if the child was genuinely in need of help, you would have helped, if not, you would still have helped ..but you.
Young girls..does that make me feel safe..nope..I can be sent as a maid..
Never mind that..what I wanted to know was how did the person who posted this stuff on face book and asked us to share learn of this method?

Straight to the answer -
Method I - S/He reads a lot many newspapers
Method II - Saw it on Television - the Crime Patrol, CSI and maybe many more
Method III - Someone s/he knew was a victim
Method IV - Read it somewhere on Internet
Method V - Works for an NGO and it was researching ways Humans can be trafficked
Method VI - S/He works for one such Organization that is into human trafficking
Now that this method is public, those who are interested and doing such acts can learn and improvise

Yes...they will come up with new method, or continue with this system hoping people have not read newspaper, watched programs like Crime patrol, have not come across any victim, are not literate, and are not in contact with any NGOs.
Last option is unlikely. I mean if the person is literate enough to paste on facebook, the person can find ways and means to approach police and get the gang caught.
I would say 3 and 5 are more likely like it. :)
It prompted me to tell my maid that she should advise her grand daughter not to help anybody on the road nor try to take anybody's help. It also prompted me to give similar advise to the teenaged maid working next door. And I shared it here and on facebook. Hope I have managed to hit the gang somewhere..

So television is the source? :)
I missed out. I wonder which programs people in rural areas watch. In fact, I would make it mandator for movies to include lessons that will prevent people from getting into trap since we never know how to communicate such things to those who really need to know them.

Regardless of whether or not this is true in relationship to trying to abduct girls for human trafficking, it is still sound advice. It is better to take the child to the police not only for the immediate safety of everyone concerned but also for protection of everyone concerned. It would be easy for the parents of the child to blame someone for abducting the child, especially if the parents were not properly attending to the child and did not want to get into trouble, even if that person were just trying to help the child get home safely. Taking the child to the police reduces the chance of the person getting blamed for trying to take the child, because how many kidnappers are going to go to the police and return the child, so it is obvious that the person was just being a good samaritan. It also alerts the police to the fact that the child might not be properly supervised, especially if this sort of thing happens several times.

That is really sad that you can't even trust the police, because they are supposed to be the ones that you should be able to turn to when you are in trouble. It is not that we do not have corrupt police here as well, but I think that the majority of the police here are honest and really want to help people. Also, if you go directly to the police station, then there is even less risk of problems, because they have surveillance equipment there, which makes it more difficult to turn the story around and make it look like you are in the wrong.

Yeah..surveillance equipment and many things in forensics make it easy for police to be caught. So it is almost necessary for them to be honest out there. Out here, we lack such things. But I think many are on take because pay scale is inadequate for the risk in it, and secondly because they are afraid of the gangsters harming them or their families since gangsters are often better equipped with arms than the police.

Oh PA..how are you doing?
Out here, even going to police can be dangerous at times because many officers may be on take. Moreover, they can turn the story the other way round. The child - if genuine might be too frightened not to agree to the story. Therefore, we may be going to protect the child but we may end up being accused of kidnapping and what nots.

Now a days nothing would surprise me if it was true! I know if I ever had it happen to me you bet your behind I would be going to the police with the kid and not take them home. Not because I am paranoid but because it is just to be safe than sorry. You never know. People now a days think these things could never happen to them but it can. Why take the chance?
I don't take things like this as a joke or someone making it up. How do we know for a fact that they did make it up?? We don't!

Just to create mistrust may be? I am trying to look at the world from the other end. Suppose some children escape a racket of kidnappers. Then they ask for our help to reach their home and tell us that the police in the city is not reliable, they accept bribes. What am I going to do? Tell the child, no kid you are on your own, go to police and keep worrying whether the officer was on take, or accompany the child to his or her home town? Your call..remember I am educated.

And in so far as people making it up..out here they do. I have had a family of four asking me to give some monies as they had not eaten much and were huddled into train and deserted. And they were forced to get down here..the story seemed difficult to believe because ticket collectors check train a couple of hours after the train starts. Our city cannot be at such short distance in any train that arrives from Maharashtra. Back then, though my brain was telling these people are conning me, I bought them some food.

I am educated also so I have no idea what you meant by that but okay...
I was agreeing with the fact that we CANNOT trust anyone now a days! People are crazy and I do NOT trust people I do not know. We could easily get killed or hurt. People do crazy things for money. Sad world we are living in...

It's always good to circulate these types of messages. Most people have heard them a million times but a reminder is always good. And there's plenty of emails about this stuff going constantly. I like the ones that tell women what to look out for. Be careful approaching you car if parked next to a van, look in your backseat before getting in and many more but it'll take up too much room. The general rule - BE AWARE and as my parents told us a million times DON'T GO ANYWHERE WITH STRANGERS - run or yell if you have to but don't get in cars or vans, don't walk off somewhere, etc.
I got on this earlier with some discussion about getting kids to school. I'm not sure it's any more dangerous than it was "in the old days" but there's just so many ways to hear about it and ways that these stories get so sensationalized. But as it always was, use your head and teach your children well.

When we were in college, we used to take lifts. Seriously..when there would be bus strikes or auto bandhs as we call them, we would need to reach home, and couldnt stand in oppressive heat or rainy seasons. People were kind back then. More often than not, they did give lift. Now I dont think they would dare to. lol

Hi vandana,
young girls should be careful when they are outside their home or in the streets. Women or child traffickers make tricky traps to abduct young girls and children. Young girls and children are then are sold to brothels or other dark places. Police and administration should take proper action to prevent human trafficking.

Vanda, seems like nowadays being kind and helpful to young children are not even safe anymore. Those strangers who came out with this new idea of human trafficking, is really scared the wit out of everyone. No one wants to help others and own self ended up being send to another country, to work as maid or other unwanted job. indeed, by sending those needed help strangers to the nearest Police station is the best option.

I have seen/read this notice/warning on my facebook wall too (many times)
If how and where this message starts , I don't have any idea.
Whether it is true or not, somehow it helps many people to take care and be aware.
There are many messages on facebook about warnings that indeed made sense.
One modus operation here in our country stopped when people starts spreading the warning on facebook.
It is about a carnap gang, how and what their motives are.
Sometimes, social networks works better than media and print news.

jai,
How come you don't have an idea you are the master of all this right?
I think you should change your modus now cause people are already aware of it

Yeah, sounds suspicious, isn't it?
I am one of them who don't speak to strangers, even when they only wanted to as a direction.... There are many kids on the street begging for money and I just put on a wooden face to them. If I am approached by a crying kid, I guess I will just send him/her to the authority... What becomes of this world?

This is really hurting story, nowadays in a world obsessed with glitz and glamour.all kinds of things happen.so its always better to be safe than sorry.so the girls has to learn to be shrewd and precautious.Never ever trust a stranger ,infact ,judge them by how they speak and execute it.It all depends on how we perceive it.I for one try to be always safe and share only few methods to all

Yes you are right.Dont talk with strangers that you dont trust. Some people thinks that if you know at the first look they are cool but it's not like that. That people can hide something terrible from you and can use you at the most terrible things. So my advice dont trust in strangers.
