Last Sunday, namely on August 12, 2012 I went shopping in Carrefour. I bought some products including a packet of seasoning. Today (August 17, 2012) I suddenly found that this packet is already out of expiry. As the expiry date is dated on July 28, 2012.
Although this packet of seasoning is not expensive, but I feel very disappointed because Carrefour is one of the popular supermarkets and I don't understand why it sells the products which is out of expiry. Of course it concerns about the profit
I emailed to Carrefour to complain about it and I am not sure whether I will receive a feedback. But after this case, I really look down upon on Carrefour

Youless, i ever encountered this type of same matter, when i shop in supermarket. Maybe, the items are too many and the staff didn't have proper way to keep their stocks. When i came across food items that are about to expire, i prefer not to buy nor matter how cheap it is. If in case, i had bought food item that had expired, i would return them with the original receipt. I can get refund immediately from their Customer supports. Have you tried sending back the expired item to their Customer support? Hope you can get a refund from them soon.

This sometimes happen due to neglect.
I believe that every product are checked by company's checker especially with big supermarkets.
Product companies sent their people to check their products for expiry date and pulled out those ones which are about to expire or near expiration.
Anyway, you can always bring it back and show them the receipt.
Yes, it's too bad when you trust a particular supermarket/mall and got disappointed.

Jai sis, sometimes some companies don't have proper staff management attitude, that's why some staffs tends to neglect their work. I ever had this type of experience before, when i shop at one of the big supermarkets as well. But, when you send back the expired item with the original receipt, you can get the refund from them without any problem.

We really have the right to make complaints like that. Because it's our health at stake here. I suggest also that you should also inform your Ministry of Trade and Industry or any department of the government that helps consumers, so that they can investigate and give appropriate action on that. Good job on your making a complaint, you may be able to help other consumers one way or the other. Thanks.

I went to a popular store about a month ago and bought a small container of some kind of tea drink. It was in the cooler case. A few days later I went to drink it and noticed that the expiration date on the bottom was for a month earlier. I couldn't believe it. I felt like you did. I hadn't opened it so when I did my shopping the next week I brought it back with the receipt. I wanted to exchange it but they didn't have any more. When I went to the customer service desk and explained, the clerk was so nice and he apologized and I could tell he felt a little embarrassed about it. He offered the explanation that sometimes something gets overlooked. But he wasn't making excuses and he was very apologetic. I got my money back. I felt a lot better about it and a little more forgiving. I can see if a clerk is looking at products and removing the expired items how one could be missed. We're all human and it's not as if it was meat or something perishable. I'm sure the product was probably still good. It was tea in a cooler case. I doubt if it was bad, but it was expired. My point is the way the clerk handled it made all the difference in how I felt. I don't know what kind of a store Carrefour is but I'm hoping you get a decent reply. I have had, at other times, unpleasant experiences with store clerks. They feel emabarrassed over something so they take the defensive, become unprofessional and lose a customer.
Good luck with your email.

The worse situation is I didn't keep the shopping receipt. But I am sure the supermarket can check it if they want. In fact I don't want to make a trouble on purpose for such a little money. But I just feel ashamed to this supermarket. I want them to keep alert and don't make such kind of stupid mistake on purpose.

Yes, I see your point. I looked up Carrefour and they are supposed to be a very reputable international hypermarket. And it seems a shame to have to make a big deal for little money, but I believe it is the principle involved. It's too bad they couldn't present a better picture of their image.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, even some good shops are doing this kind of silly things. It clearly shows that this kind of shops are money minded and they don't give importance to the customers health, hope you will get reply from them
