I've applied on scribie, a website where you transcribe audio files, mostly interviews, and you get paid for it. I received a notification already that I can take the test. All accepted applicants are required to transcribe one test file, this will determine if you'll be come a transcribe for scribie or not. I've already tried taking the test twice, but had to cancel both times because the audio quality is just too bad. I want to know from people who were able to work here (scribie), is it really this hard? Can you give me any tips on how I can pass the test? Thanks, any input will be much appreciated.

Hi Kuli. I haven't been a member of Scribie, so I cannot help you with it. But here's a little piece of advice, if you'll allow me:
Scribie pays $10 per hour of audio transcribed. Each file is broken down into 6 minute files, and you get a dollar each for transcribing it. But that isn't huge, given the amount of effort you'll be putting it.
But if you live in a country where PayPal is accepted, why don't you try TranscribeMe (Came across this just now, from the blog that I've been reading for sometime now). The blog's author says that it pays $30 per hour of transcribed audio. That's good enough, I guess.
I say, give it a shot, and let me know what happens!

Thank you for the heads up boyuancy. I'd check the website later. I do feel that Scribie pays so little for a job that requires too much effort. But hey, I was willing to try it because it can generate extra income for me. Thanks again by the way, I will soon give updates once I'm able to check it.

Here's my update. I signed up with TranscribeMe and passed the exam with flying colors (a little over 96% accuracy). They say that they are currently making some technical upgrades, so they aren't providing any work as of now. But they say that it will be done within this week, so they will be back with work the next week.
I also came across this site called Speechink. It gets it's transcription jobs done via Amazon's MTurk, so I think you guys should take a look at it. There's quite a bit of work - ranging from a few seconds (that pay a few cents) to a little over a hour, which pay $40 or more per job done. But the rules seem to be stricter, so be careful.
